All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
Meh. I guess he could be depth. They did convert Peters so maybe it will work again. I assume it is cheap deal so they could axe him if it does not work out.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?
Looking for depth on the offensive line Buffalo re-signed one of their own free agents in Matt Murphy.
Murphy, a tight end by trade, had a 2007 season with many twists and turns. He made the 53-man roster coming out of training camp as a tight end after a solid preseason.
But in the middle of the season he was transitioned to the offensive line. The 270-pound veteran was a solid blocker at tight end and the offensive staff wanted to see what he could do at offensive tackle.
But after less than a week at the position he tore his calf muscle and was placed on season ending injured reserve Nov. 14 last season.
Murphy is a do anything for the team type of player so it's not surprising to see him take on this new role six years into his NFL career. Murphy will likely spend much of the remaining offseason bulking up so he can anchor a bit better against the defensive ends he'll be facing in the run game and pass protection.
MURPHY A SELFLESS PLAYER: Matt Murphy has to be one of the most selfless NFL players I've ever met. How many NFL players do you know that would agree to move from tight end to offensive tackle entering year six of their career? I can name one and he's also on Buffalo's roster. His name is George Wilson. It paid off for Wilson as the staff was straight with him, which leads me to believe that Murphy believes he'll get a fair shake as well with the offensive staff and be given time to develop at tackle. Bulking up however, may be the hardest thing. He certainly has the frame to add 20 or 30 pounds, but putting on the right weight is the tough thing.
He'll compete with Kirk Chambers as the third tackle. I wouldn't be surprised if the Bills drafted an offensive tackle as well. It's a good tackle draft, deeper than the past couple of years.
