Titans | Contract update: Gage

Jim Wyatt (http://www.kffl.com/link/173), of the Tennessean (http://www.kffl.com/link/136), reports Tennessee Titans (http://www.kffl.com/team/36/nfl) WR Justin Gage (http://www.kffl.com/player/6264/nfl) signed a four-year contract worth $14 million with $6.5 million in guarantees, including signing and roster bonuses. He will earn base salaries of $1 million (2008), $2 million (2009), $1.5 million (2010) and $3.5 million (2011).

Thats also inline with the deal Wilford got with Miami.

Sounds reasonable enough. But from what I heard, Johnsons agent is a giant douche and will chase the bucks just like he did with Troupe.

If we wanted a Mercedes, we'd be screaming for Moss.

Considering the dearth of talent at WR in this year's FA class, we actually are looking for a Honda because it's better than the Yugo's we had last year. We just don't want to pay Mercedes money for the Honda, what's wrong with that?

I think the Gage contract (and Wilford's) is a pretty fair benchmark to use to determine what kind of money the team should be laying out. Maybe more than fair, actually. Johnson is a #3 being elevated to #2, and Gage, I believe, was the Titans leading receiver last year.

I mentioned that originally in my thread questioning on why would we spend $5-$6 M on a 3rd string WR from a losing team?? First thing I heard was he is behind 2 pro-bowlers but that doesn't make him one.

His agent needs to realize that there is a big question mark as to what he can do.

Johnson is no mercedes.

Frankly, I think both Gage and especially Wilford are better than him.

hey guys, is johnson a mercedes?

perhaps we can have 10 replies nitpicking the language in this post instead of seeing the point.
