Spacek (chest) Kalinin (shoulder) Paestsch (whiplash)

BUFFALO, N.Y.— The Sabres have suffered two more significant injuries on defense. Jaroslav Spacek could possibly miss the rest of the regular season with a chest injury, and Dmitri Kalinin will likely be out two weeks with a shoulder injury as the Sabres look to the final 13-games of the season. Both injuries happened during the Sabres 3-2 shootout loss to the Rangers Monday night. Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said it was still too early to give a clear timetable on Spacek given a lack of test results but said he could be out a "period of time."

The Sabres are expecting verteran defenseman Henrik Tallinder to return for Wednesday night's game at Pittsburgh. He suffered a bruised shoulder in a win at Philadelphia last week.

Defenseman Nathan Paestch suffered a whiplash injury during a hard check from Sean Avery in Monday night's loss to the Rangers. Paetsch says he's sore, but expects to play Wednesday in Pittsburgh.

The Sabres have recalled defenseman Mike Weber from Rochester of the AHL. Lindy Ruff also mentioned the possibilty of using forward Jason Pominville on defense if necessary.
