The Hockey News reports that John Tavares has committed to staying in the OHL next season, playing for the Oshawa Generals. Tavares is only five days short of being draft-eligible in '08, instead he'll have to wait until the 2009 draft.

Don't you know that this is Buffalo and we will probably end up with the #1 pick a year too early! Now that is Buffalo at it's finest! Either way, if the Sabres do miss the playoffs and bomb, this draft has some very good players at the top. We will see.

With that said, I wonder if we will get worse next year. No free agents are going to sign here because Buffalo doesn't want to pay and no free agent would even want to sign here.
