NFL Network's Adam Schefter is reporting that the 49ers will part ways with WR Darrell Jackson. After adding Isaac Bruce and Bryant Johnson, the team no longer needed the disappointing Jackson. It's doubtful that Jackson will ever repeat his pre-2005 numbers, but he will draw interest from teams with a West Coast offense. Likely destinations include the Eagles, Redskins, Bucs, and Vikings. He'd automatically become the #1 WR on the market. Not that I'm endorsing him but he has shown in the past that he can be effective and injury free for the most part.

We might as well sign Moulds, if we wish to live in the unrealistic past.

What a lousy year this was/is for FA vet WR's.

Bring on the Draft.

He has some dropsy issues but he's better than anything we have by far,

Worth a look and a visit at least.

Like most of these guys floating around, I'd give him a look, but I wouldn't break the bank. But with the market for veteran WRs that haven't produced nearly as well as Jackson, he'll probably get a bundle from some team.

I doubt he gets more than $4 million per.

Hmmm, this move would make me feel better about our offense. I would have no problem signing him to be our #2 for $3 million per year or even $3.5 per year. He has shown to be a very good receiver at times.

how big is jackson. i know he has been a very good wr in seattle, and i am willing to give him a pass in san fran because everyone there sucked.

Anyone listed at 6' even is probably 5'11. But again, I'd gladly have him for the right price, which I would think is somewhere south of $4 million per.

I realize we need to improve our WR situation. However, I'm don't like the idea of signing a player to a long-term deal just because they are "better than anyone we currently have". That isn't really saying much in regards to our WR group right now. I'd rather wait until the draft and select someone who looks like they will fit the role we're looking for. That being said, if a FA becomes available that will nicely fit into the WR role we seek, I'm all for it. I don't believe Jackson is that guy. I don't really think anyone out there right now is that guy.

Hackett>Jackson

How can that be when Hackett can't last a full season? He has to prove he can stay healthy and actually break the 1000yd mark before anyone can say that.

getting cut by sf is not a good sign. i realize he has a high cap number but why wouldnt they try to renegotiate with him. maybe they did or maybe they felt his reduced production was a function of his bad knees and that he would never regain his form from a couple years ago

i sure hope the bills check him out though. if his knees look ok then he could be an excellent number two and come pretty reasonably priced for all his experience

Grab him and draft a WR with the 1st pick.

$3.75 M a year, 3 year, $7 Million guaranteed.

Funny, that's about how many balls he's dropped since he left Seattle.
