Crazy draft idea that might work....

What if the Bills give up their first and second this year and their second next year to move up enough to get Dorsey? I bet that Dallas would probably give us their 2 1st rounders for him. We could then draft Kelly and Sweed with those picks and almost assure ourselves at least 1 if not 2 long term WR's to soldify us at that position. That would allow us to keep Lee for this season and the ability to franchise him next year to give those 2 guys time to get that much better.

I just feel that the Bills are so underserved at WR that focusing on having 2 longer term / cheaper options makes sense. Since they would both be drafted later in the first round, their price would not be that high for signing and allow us to focus on extending the talent that we have.

Well how about Mcfadden then?? Where would he be likely to be drafted?

This draft is real deep in WR's and that just happens to be a position that besides Lee we are underserved big time. We also are not going to be able to afford Lee at the amounts being thrown and good WR's now and having 2 cheaper alternatives for the long term would afford us the ability to resign other players we have and to focus on other areas of weakness over the coming years.

So essentially we'd be paying a first, a second, and next year's second for Kelly and Sweed?

Intersting idea, but in reality, we'd have to move up to the top5 spot, and I dont think it would be enough to get us there.

And, while Kelly and Sweed are decent prospects, I dont think they ranked anywhere near as high as did Fitzgerald, C. Johnson, Roy Williams, etc... did coming out of college...
I dont like trading up to get any of these guys... heck, I dont even think either of these guys are 'worth' the 11th spot.

Looking at the draft chart, our 1st is worth 1,250 and our second is worth 470 and our 2nd next year should be worth ~400. That is enough to get us into the 3rd or 4th pick, which should be good enough to get Mcfadeen or Dorsey. We obviously would need to gauge the interest of Dallas in doing this on draft day but it seems like a doable situation to get close. We also have to weigh in the Lee is probably a goner after 2 more years here and really have done nothing in FA to address that situation of needing to solid WR's for years to come.

It's doable by chart alone, gauging the desire by Dallas is the key. Dallas also has a good team and it's obvious that Jones would like to sell more seats in the monster he built so I would plan on Dallas making some big noise this draft. When you force people to buy chairs at the price he is, he needs to bring in bigger names and push buttons.

The Dallas Cowboys are one of the biggest sports franchises in the country. They are right there with the Yankees. They have one of the biggest followings of any team in the league. Drafting a "name" player in the draft is not going to effect ticket sales. The fact that they are a great team, with big names already, and the allure of a new stadium is reason enough for the Cowboys to sell out every game.

Jones always goes bigger and better. He is going to use his 2 1st round picks to grab a high name player in this draft one way or the other. I would just like the Bills to benefit from it.

We might even be able to just give our first and second this year to move up and grab Mcfadden or Dorsey depending on how much they fall.

This is the year of the receiver and Jones is trying to sell tickets, it makes sense.

Jp and Lee Evans for Dallas' 22 overall pick. Does that add up point wise? I don't want that to happen but I think something like that is going to happen.

Well JP is a 4th or 4rd at best and we need Lee for at least 1 more year if not 2. It makes no sense to give up your #1 WR when you need a another.

I know it doesn't make any sense but It something the Bills would do IMO.. Think about were going to have to pay Evans close to what Fitzgerald got...No matter what Lee says he is always going to want JP as the qb.

With the 11th pick we could possibly get DRC

Trade Lee Evans for Dallas' 22nd and possibly grab Kelly, Thomas or Sweed...
