All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
I saw that Pittburgh is playing against Philadelphia. So that is a no-brainer. Go Pens!!! Now, on the other hand, you have Boston @ Washington. I know that we want Boston to keep losing, but if Washington wins, they edge even closer to us and would only be 1 point behind. So, I'm thinking we want Boston to win. But I'm not sure.
That second part of the question is hard... I guess it depends on if you are an optimist or not. You could say that either way we benefit, whether its closer to boston or putting more space between washington. But then again, I guess you could say we are ****ed either way

remember were trying to get the last spot thus its better to have boston closer to you from the top than it is for washington to be farther from the bottom
if philthy loses then you have both them and boston within reach which is better than having just philthy
Well you want the people above you to keep losing and you hope the Sabres keep winning so the teams like the Caps can win all they want because they're the ones chasing you, not the other way around.
As Satchel Paige once said, "Don't look back - something might be gaining on you."
So root for the Caps.
And if you have to ask who the Satch is, I probably have socks older than you.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?
Regardless, you need the Sabres to keep winning and the teams above them to keep losing. If both of those things don't happen, they aren't going to make the playoffs. Who cares what teams behind them are doing? You have to want the teams above them to lose.
And you gotta hope they they lose outright too! These crappy 1 point losses are going to kill them.

howard simon has been pimping that three points per game idea where win = 3 ot win = 2 ot loss = 1. i like it because right now teams like boston and philthy that play each other actually have little incentive to try to win a tie game late in regulation. its kinda like they silently agree to just play it safe and take the point then roll the dice for who gets the second point in ot. if teams knew they could actually get TWO more points for a win in regulation then they would likely try harder to win outright
