NFL | Rucker works out at Pro Day
Thu, 20 Mar 2008 15:10:08 -0700
Daniel Mogollon, of NFL (http://www.kffl.com/team/77/nfl)DraftBible.com, reports University of Missouri TE Martin Rucker (http://www.kffl.com/player/18375/nfl) worked out at his school's Pro Day Thursday, March 20. Rucker ran a 4.71 40-yard dash, had a 37-inch vertical jump and a nine-foot, eight-inch broad jump. He said that he ran slower than he expected but his vertical was impressive. Rucker did not perform at the 2008 NFL Scouting Combine (http://www.kffl.com/link/183) and his vertical jump of 37-inches would have placed him second. Scouts view the vertical jump as the most important drill for tight ends because it measures explosiveness.

I like Rucker. Wouldn't want him any earlier than the 3rd round though.

Yeah, Rucker is nice and I wouldn't mind Carlson in the 3rd round either. IMO, if we want to draft a TE we can get a starter on day 1 in the 3rd-4th round.. I see people with their mock drafts and having us taking Davis in the 2nd, drives me nuts! Plenty of talent available on the start of day 2.

I would bust a nut if we could get Keller though...lol. My perfect scenario is getting our wr with 1st pick then either trading back into the lower end of the first and grabbing Keller or if by some miracle he is still there for us in the 2nd.

Take this guy and run if he is still on the board in the 3rd.

Every TE will be there when we pick in round 2... Including Dustin Keller.

I wouldn't count on it.

I would no TE is worth a top 45 pick

Does that mean they won't be picked by some team who just uses it as a need? Teams do that. Someone will be very high on Keller I think. Hell I hope nobody grabs him and we at least have a chance at him but I dunno.

If a team wants to be stupid sure they can do that, we have a few great examples of that hear on our own team. However that does not change the fact that value wise no TE is worth a top 45 pick. I cant (nor can anyone else) account for the idiocy of some teams.
