Jerod Mayo...Tennessee Volunteers LB Jerod Mayo told Sirius NFL Radio that he had a good visit with the Buffalo Bills this past week, in which he met the entire staff of coaches...Mayo also has visits scheduled in the near future with the Detroit Lions and Pittsburgh Steelers.

He'll go in Rd. 2. I sincerely hope we can fill a more urgent need there.

Mayo is a baller. I would love for the Bills to get him.

i agree, great player.. but taking a LB that early? wow.. we have 3 CLEAR starters.. and digi as a strong back up who could play weak and middle.

PLEASE dont tell me you think we're going to turn into the Sabres. Draft players, groom them, watch them good.. LEAVE to get paid somewhere else; and then just keep drafting their replacements and starting the cycle all over again.

We will re-sign Crowell. I have no doubts about that.

not if we burn a 2nd rounder on his replacement.

No reason whatsoever to take a LB before Day 2 unless they are planning on letting Crowell walk.

Bills are in a great position to better hedge against future losses in FA. If Crowell wants $6-7 million season.....goodbye. Why overpay to keep a player?

There is nothing wrong in adding a young versatile LB that can contribute on special teams while he learns the defense. I would have no problem with the Bills adding such a player in the 3rd or 4th rd. It would be a move to solidify depth

I'm not saying we won't but see my previous post

We should take a WR, TE, DE, CB, C, OT before LB IMO. It'd be the "Wright" pick from last year.

Agreed. No way does Crowell deserve a big $$ deal.

All these needs makes one hope the Bills do trade down in Round 1, if granted an opportunity. One look at the depth roster over at the Bills site shows how thin we are at many positions.

Mayo would be a hell of a pickup just speaking from a value point. He can play inside or outside LB and is a playmaker who breaks down plays very quickly and can beat the blocker to the hole.

Crowell is coming into the prime of his career. He can play any of the 3 LB positions. He's incredibly underrated around the nation and will not make many headlines this year, either. He won't make the pro-bowl, but he should. He'll quietly collect his 120+ tackles. If anyone deserves a nice payday, it's him. Why let another good player walk, Tom Golisano? Why? And picking up Mayo so Crowell can leave only puts us back into a lack of depth situation along with the opportunity cost of picking a lower need area versus WR, TE, CB, or DL.
No. Use early picks on offense where the help is desperately needed and look for depth later.

I don't think they plan on letting Crowell walk like Pat suggested. But planning for the future is always a plus. What if Angelo wants to leave regardless of what money is thrown at him? It would be nice to be prepared for such a scenario.

I don't think we have that luxury at this point in time. We need too much help on the other side of the ball.
