Else. I think the Bills can obilge him, write the check Brandon and bring us in a 1,440 yards receiver from last year.

CINCINNATI (AP) - Chad Johnson (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/player/69343) skipped the start of the Bengals (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/team/67041)' offseason workouts Monday, the latest move to show he's unhappy with how he's perceived in Cincinnati.

Johnson said in interviews last week that he is skipping the voluntary workouts to reinforce his message that he'd like to play somewhere else. The Bengals (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/team/67041) have said repeatedly that they have no intention of trading him. T.J. Houshmandzadeh (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/player/69346), who tied for the NFL lead in receptions with 112 last season, also is skipping the voluntary workouts for the second straight year. Johnson has been a regular at the workouts until now.

If we had a 1,440 yards receiver last season, we would of went .500 or better, just keep that in mind before you decide you do not want this guy. JO or not, he performs at a high level.

Maybe we should trade Evans to the bengals for Ocho Cinco straight up. That would make TD and FTY happy.

I'll take a 1,440 yards inconsistent receiver overr a 849 yard consistent one. Add ~600 yards total to any of our closer games and I think we win a few more than we lose, that's a safe bet.

We need both of them here with Roscoe to stretch the field. RW stadium will become the field of dreams with a few more top-flight players on it.

he's gonna crap in his pants without any help opposite him. Then he'll whine and throw the qb under the bus while wearing his "Future HOF" jacket. That's really smart skoobs.NOT. Now go to the corner and lick yourself. ;)

Looks like the guy is getting better to me and is just at the peak of his career, why shouldn't we sign him?? Is there a player in the draft you can safely say will hit these types of numbers??

Ocho Cinco has Carson Palmer, and a competent offensive coach. If he was here last year, he wouldn't done that well, and he would be even madder.

and that produced what for the bengals? He's dropped several key passes to go with his attitude. I would be all over having him but he's got too much baggage that outweigh his production. I'd take Roy Williams over him anyday.

CINCINNATI -- Chad Johnson (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5483) skipped the start of the Bengals' offseason workouts Monday, the latest move to show he's unhappy with how he's perceived in Cincinnati.
Johnson said in interviews last week that he is skipping the voluntary workouts to reinforce his message that he'd like to play somewhere else. The Bengals have said repeatedly that they have no intention of trading him.
T.J. Houshmandzadeh (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5652), who tied for the NFL lead in receptions with 112 last season, also is skipping the voluntary workouts for the second straight year. Johnson has been a regular at the workouts until now.
<!-- PULL-QUOTE (BEGIN) -->
http://assets.espn.go.com/i/story/design07/dropQuote.gif I wish they were here, but we'll work with what we've got and the guys that are here. That's exciting, too. http://assets.espn.go.com/i/story/design07/dropQuoteEnd.gif

<!-- PULL-QUOTE (END) -->
Coach Marvin Lewis addressed the absences with the other players.
"What I addressed is that in the NFL there are a lot of different situations that occur throughout the season and the offseason, and they are not a bearing on any one particular player," Lewis said. "Whatever occurs, this is professional football. You have to deal with it in your way."
Johnson became indignant last season after a local newspaper columnist suggested his look-at-me antics were hurting the team. Fans also criticized his approach as the season careened to a 7-9 finish.
He stopped talking to the local media last season, but went on national interview shows before the Super Bowl and again last week reiterating that he feels unappreciated. Johnson has said repeatedly that he'd like to play for another team.

Anyone that doesn't think that Johnson would instantly make the Bills better isn't thinking too clearly.

Yes, he's cocky and at times stupid but the guy can play the position and would be an instant fan favoite.

He would also add hundreds of yards to our offense. You can say red zone about 20 more times if he's here.

As a Steeler fan that gets the joy of watching Ocho Stinko get shutdown EVERY GAME AGAINST US for the last what, 3 years now, I say pass on him. 3 reasons.

1. The lockerroom. Do you really want a guy that takes a swing at a coach in the lockerroom? A guy that starts yelling and screaming at everyone else when his team loses and he is not the center of attention? A guy that literally curls up in a little ball when he is about to get him because the division opponets are able to put the smack on him?

2. It all about the show. What he doesn't realize is that by drawing attention to himself, he sets himself and his team up for a whoopin. Some of the BIGGEST hits I have seen in YEARS from my Steelers are against him and T.J. Who'syourmama because of their antics against the Steelers.

3. Overall stats are one thing, but he has only scored 2 td's in 3 years in December. in the last two years, except for the last game of the year (Miami) he didn't score at ALL starting in Decemember. Furthermore, he is spotty. 3 td's one game, and then 0 Td's for a couple games. On top of that, he absolutely disappears in big games. Against the Steelers, he hasn't scored in what now, 3 years? It is unbelievable.

I would NEVEr want him on our team.

He has game changing talent on offense, that's something we lack at the WR position currently. Evans is great but stands pretty much alone. 85 on the line with Evans will take heat off both of them and make the team better. It's about making the team better.

I've watched him take some nasty hits. WRs in general are all primis. Look at Moulds.

But adding a top 5 talent at his position can't hurt us. What do we have now or in the draft? Nothing.

The reward outweighs the risk. Change of scenary and the chip should benefit us well.

I can understand what your saying. However, in the end, he will create a worse situation for your team that what they are in right now.

I understand the hope that he is like Moss going to the Pats... great fit with no problems. However, IMO, he will actually be more like Moss going to the Raiders.

Guys, there is very little chance that Cincy lets Chad go anywhwere. He's their best receiver ever, was recently resigned to a big contract, and they clearly do not want him to leave. Even if he does threaten to hold out, the team is in a strong bargaining position.

One, he's got a lot of money coming his way, and he's simply not going to sit out a full season on principle and thus go hungry this year.

Two, the guy loves attention, and likes to play football. He won't sit a year out.

Three, Cincy has TJ and some other reasonably capable receivers (including a recently signed Ben Utecht). Carson will still have people to throw to if Chad holds out for a few games.

Four, Chad is still on good terms with his teammates, and not THAT much has transpired to really piss him off. He may WANT to play somewhere else, but he doesn't NEED to. Neither he nor the team has behaved in a way that has irreparably burned the bridges to him coming back.

Bottom line: Chad Johnson will eventually be in a Bengals uniform for 2008.

Like being near last in total offense??

Here's the thing.

Last year, the Bills showed that with a few changes, they can compete. The question is what changes need to be made. I agree a better receiver corp will help (QB maybe... who knows).

But the question is, how much negative does he bring compared to the positive. Does his skills on the field provide more than what he would take away on the field? I would say no. In my opinion, he would bring enough disruption that any improvement in the offense would be negated by his rallying of the other team to beat the bills to rub his nose into it.

Furthermore, if you all DO have a foundation to build on (which I think you do), you don't want to build it on a player that will cause disruption internally. Take teh money and invest in a couple other players or another big name.

I really don't want to see CJ in a BIlls uniform... I like you all too much to see that happen!!

I don't want to defend Chad Johnson because I don't want him, his antics, or his sick gold grill on my team. But honestly, he skipped VOLUNTARY workouts. So did Aaron Schobel. So what? There's more than a handful of players who skip these every year.

Moss going to the Patriots wasn't exactly money when it really counted. For the most part he was actually a non-factor after the regular season.

You're right. He did disappear.

I wonder if that was Moss, or that was scheming. then again, with that size, he should be able to just reach up and grab a ball regardless.

I'm sure alot of it had to do with defensive strategy and schemes, but even so a supposed talent like him (especially considering the team around him) shouldn't just fall off of the map.

Yay - another "I hope the Bills trade for Chad Johnson" thread.

1) The Bengals will take an $8 million cap hit if they trade Johnson.

2) Mike Brown does not throw money away ... well, unless you count all those failed draft picks and free agent signings over the past 18 years.

3) Chad Johnson is a cancer. If he's not getting the ball, he's a distraction to the rest of the team. It's no coincidence that the Bengals went downhill after Chad's locker room incident during their playoff loss to the Steeelers a couple years ago.

If (and that's a big IF) the Bengals are stupid enough to tie up that much cap space on a player who is on another roster, then I hope the Bills aren't stupid enough to give them anything for him.

Of course, realfootball365 has some crap articles sometimes, but you cant hate the logic here: instead of drafting a guy with the 1st round pick, trade for a proven commodity.

Whether he would be happy HERE is a big unknown however, especially with Edwards going through growing pains.

here's one reason: he's one of the best wr's in the nfl.

He WAS one of the best WRs in the NFL.

He's still very good, but last season made me wonder. Once again, the guy had multiple concussions last season. It has been making him play timid or something. For whatever reason, he doesn't seem the same to me. I don't care whether anyone wants to agree with me or not.

I not only agree with you, but he could also become a major distraction on a young team that is trying to build something positive.

He has demonstrated a big "me first" attitude in Cincinnati, and is rapidly becoming a major problem there.

People talk about JP being a cancer when he has never shown any signs of it. Yet some would bring this guy in here, knowing exactly what he is. Ocho Stinko is in full malignant mode right now. Those of you who love the guy should pay some attention to his antics, and anticipate the effect he would have on this team.

Again, Jan, you are spot on. I won't even refer to him by his self-proclaimed nickname. When the lead story is about what antic the dip**** displayed (and the game results are reduced to an afterthought), I say "NOT ONLY NO, BUT **** NO!" Meshawn Johnson wasn't even as much of a distraction, and he's a full blown idiot.
