There is a distinct possibility the starting defensive unit next year will feature this lineup:
DL: Schobel, McCargo, Stroud, Kelsay
LB: Mitchell, Posluszny, Crowell
DB: James, Simpson, Whitner, McGee
That would be 6 new starters than the defensive unit that played most of last year. (counting Simpson and Poz, who played in 1 and 2.25 games last season) I think that can only bode well for a defense that finished near the very bottom of the league.
However, I expect Jabari Greer and George Wilson to make strong starting bids in camp. Actually I consider Greer the favorite to win the second cornerback job at this point in time. Spencer Johnson could also make a starting bid in a competition against McCargo. That will be an interesting battle to watch in tc.
Though the lack of offensive additions concern me, (even though our first round pick I would bet is a wide reciever) I think we've made positive additions to a defense that played hard but was undermanned last year.
1 large step forward in my opinion.
