My 9 games that defined the season:
1. Wednesday - Nov. 4 @ St. Louis. Sabres first game of a west coast trip ends in a loss when Brad Boyes scores with :58 seconds left in the game to give the Blues a 4-3 win.
2. Thursday - Jan 12 @ home: The New Jersey Devils defeat the Sabres 3-2 in the Sabres third consecutive shootout loss.
3. Saturday - Jan 19 @ Toronto: After destroying the Thrashers at home the night before 10-1 the Sabres lose this game 4-2 as Ryan Miller allows four goals on 23 shots.
4. Friday - Feb. 1 @ Atlanta: After completely dominating this team a few weeks prior, the Sabres go to Atlanta and lose in a shootout 4-3 as Tony Lydman takes a stupid delay of the game penalty allowing Atlanta to score on the power play with 18 seconds to play. Eric Perrin scores on Thibeault as the 4th shooter while Vanek misses his chance to tie.
5. Friday - Feb 8 @ home vs. Boston: Buffalo blows a 2-0 lead as Boston scores two in the third period. Boston takes the game and the extra point in the shootout.
6. Monday - Feb 25 @ home vs. Philadelphia: Buffalo takes a 3-0 lead in the 1st period to watch Philadelphia fight their way back to tie it and send it to a shootout where Daniel Briere scores the shootout winner.
7. Monday - March 10 @ home vs. NY Rangers - Buffalo goes 1-10 on the power play and lose the game in a shootout as the Rangers other $8 million dollar man Scott Gomez beats Miller.
8. Tuesday - March 25 @ home vs. Ottawa - Buffalo gives up a short handed goal and then four others in the third as Ottawa storms back to beat the Sabres 6-3.
9. Friday - March 28 @ home vs. Montreal - Buffalos seems to out play the Canadians the entire game until gets two late goals in the span of a couple minutes, the tying goal coming with :15 seconds left in the game, then beating the Sabres in OT.

These were points pissed away and even if the Sabres get six of those points and they are at least tied with the Bruins right now.

5, 6, 8, and 9 are definites... nothing drives me crazy like getting a lead and then pissing it away.

Exactly! But the shootout losses cost us big time this year too. Miller was awful in them. :sigh: If they won half of the ones they lost, the team would actually be right in the thick of things....:ill:
