Bruins remaining schedule:

<TABLE class="tablehead teamTop colOne" cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=3><TBODY><TR class=oddrow vAlign=top height=50><TD class=logo>2
@NJ (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=nj)
7:00 PM
</TD><TD class=logo>3

</TD><TD class=logo>4
@OTT (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=ott)
7:30 PM
</TD><TD class=logo>5
BUF (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=buf)
7:00 PM
</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

I can see them losing to NJ and Ottawa, if Buffalo handles their own business there is a chance.

Philly remaining schedule:

<TABLE class="tablehead teamTop colOne" cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=3><TBODY><TR class=oddrow vAlign=top height=50><TD class=logo>2
@PIT (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=pit)
7:30 PM
</TD><TD class=logo>3

</TD><TD class=logo>4
NJ (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=nj)
7:00 PM
</TD><TD class=logo>5

</TD></TR><TR class=oddrow vAlign=top height=50><TD class=logo>6
PIT (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=pit)
3:00 PM
</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

That is a tough road to hoe, they could lose all 3 but again it matters what the Sabres do.

Caps remaining schedule:

<TABLE class="tablehead teamTop colOne" cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=3><TBODY><TR class=oddrow vAlign=top height=50><TD class=logo></TD><TD class=logo>1
CAR (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=car)
7:00 PM
</TD><TD class=logo>2

</TD><TD class=logo>3
TB (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=tb)
7:00 PM
</TD><TD class=logo>4

</TD><TD class=logo>5
FLA (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=fla)
7:00 PM
</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

They are going to win 2 of those games, somehow.

NJ remaining schedule:

<TABLE class="tablehead teamTop colOne" cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=3><TBODY><TR class=oddrow vAlign=top height=50><TD class=logo></TD><TD class=logo>3
@NYI (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=nyi)
7:00 PM
</TD><TD class=logo>4
NYI (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=nyi)
7:00 PM
</TD><TD class=logo>5

</TD></TR><TR class=oddrow vAlign=top height=50><TD class=logo>6
@NJ (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=nj)
3:00 PM
</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

I cannot see how they don't win at least 1 against the Isles.

So looking at the most likely picture, we need to 2 teams Philly / Boston and us to win out to make it. Pittsburgh is playing for home ice advantage throughout the EC playoffs, so they will not lay down.

Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

Well it didn't help any with Boston getting a point last night.

I wish the NHL would adopt a point system like the one I proposed before shootouts:

after regulation the two teams are tied, they play a 5 minute overtime period. If overtime still doesn't decide the outcome, both teams are THEN AWARDED ONE POINT and the winner of the shootout gets the additional point.

here's the scenario that they had in the second intermission on MSG last night

Sabres get in the playoffs if:

they need 2 of the following

1. Either
A. washington gets only 3pts in there last 3 games
B. carolina gets only 1 pt in there last 3 games

2. rags get 0 pts in there next 4 games

3. boston loses to buffalo in regulation AND they get only 1pt in there other 2 games

4. philly gets only 1pt in there last 3 games

thank god for DVR

So what you are saying is that if Buffalo wins out and still misses the playoffs, we can blame Max for sucking all season?

It should either just go on w/l/t like the NFL

or

3 points regulation win.
2 point overtime win.
1 overtime/shootout loss.
0 regulation loss

(i had no problem with the old system, ties were ok with me)

Also, I would add a 10 minute overtime instead of 5 minutes. 4 on 4 is just too damn exciting to be held to such a short time limit.

I agree with all of the above! Good post. :up:
