How the Sabres get into the playoffs

First and foremost, the Sabres have to win the remaining three games on the regular season schedule - Tuesday at Toronto, Thursday at Montreal, and Saturday at Boston.

    Then, they need serious help.

As of Monday, the Sabres were five points behind New York, Boston, and Philadelphia for the sixth, seventh, and eighth positions in the Eastern Conference. The top eight teams make the post-season. The Sabres would need to overtake at least one of those three teams through winning out, and then having one of the following scenarios take place:

-Philadelphia and Boston gain one-point or less in their final three games.

-The Rangers gain no points in their final four games.

-Washington gains three points or less in their final three games.

-If Washington winds up winning the Southeast Division, Buffalo would need Carolina to gain one-point or less in their final three games.
