Hello:

My name is Jeff Nixon. I played for the Buffalo Bills from 1979 to 1984. I was a Free Safety - number 38.

I wanted to see if anyone has a copy of a VHS tape of the Bills vs. Miami game that was played on Sept. 7, 1980. We beat Miami 17-7 to snap the longest losing streak (Team vs. Team) in the NFL. I had 3 interceptions in the game.

If you have any suggestions on where I can find this tape, please let me know. Thanks!

Jeff Nixon is one of my Mom's favorite players and one of mine as well.

I will send a link to this thread to a member here who might be able to help.

BTW, that game is one of my fondest memories. It is the first Bills over Dolphins game in my memory.

Jeff, your Topps card is one of the first ones I remember owning as a kid.

I'm also pretty sure I got your autograph when in the summer of '82 when I was 7. Training camp was over and the team was practicing on the Erie Community College campus fields. I got a bunch of you guys to sign a little Bills ball I had as you guys entered and exited the stadium after practice.
Thanks!

Btw, that was an awesome game for you - 3 picks, right?

I don't have that game.

It's the holy grail of Bills games.

I have the Atlanta game and the Charger's playoff game from 1980.

I also have the 81 MNF Dolphin's game, the 81 Cleveland game, the Jet Wild Card game, and the Bengal Divisional game.

But not the 1980 opener....and I've been looking for 15 years.

Do you want a custom McFarlane sports figure of yourself?

I just want to thank you Mr. Nixon, just for being part of our great history!

And good luck with the tape. :beers:

Jeff, welcome to the board. It's not often that we have a guy on here that has his own Wikipedia article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Nixon).

BTW, I've seen you on AM Buffalo... nice hair!

Why on wikipedia does it say he played from 1979-81 and he said 79-84....something's wrong here

4th rounder just like Ko Simpson... I'm liking the correlation.

I'd love a tape of that game too.

I forget whether it was Shane Nelson or Haslett that laid out Csonka on a swing pass early in that game that really set the tone.

Wikipedia is incorrect. I played from 1979 to 1984. My last 2 years '83 and '84 I was on injured reserve. That didn't stop me from practicing with the team every single day. Altogether I had 5 knee surgeries (4 arthroscopic and 1 total reconstruction of my left knee. I retired in 1985.

I don't care what anyone says, Bills fans are the best fans in the NFL. If I'm not mistaken Buffalo set the NFL attendance record 4 or 5 years in a row back when the stadium seated over 80,000. For a blue collar town that is phenomenal!

Take Care,

Jeff Nixon

I like the quote.

We used to have one in the Bills locker room that said:

Fame is a vapor,
Riches take wings,
the only thing that endures is character!

Take Care,

Jeff Nixon

I have no stats in 1983 or 1984 because I was on injured reserve due to multiple knee injuries and subsequent surgeries.

Nonetheless, I practiced every single day during that period of time. You will also see me on the team photos taken for both of those years and most importantly..... I have an NFL pension that will pay me for both of those years.

It is a shame that today's medicine was not available for you back then. The way players recover from knee (and other injuries) has advanced a great amount in the last 20 years.
