How about Malcolm Kelly in the 3rd???

If this report is accurate.....he will be a 3rd rd pick IMO......

Early reports have Oklahoma WR Malcolm Kelly running a 4.75 today in his pro day. Kelly had a quad tear and was unable to workout for pro scouts since the end of the college season.

There must be a lot of game film which would indicate something about his speed, or an actual 40 time clocked before his quad tear, to go by. I don't believe any scouts considered him slow the last couple of seasons.

So why, if he were outrunning defenders and gaining gobs of yards before this injury (which will heal), is his 40 time such an issue now?
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

If the reports are accurate......I'm thinking he still isn't healed from that injury and can be had late in the draft...maybe even the 3rd rd!

you guys are right, it just means he will certainly not be going in the first round, or at least i'd doubt it.

Boldin was also a way better college player than Kelly.

Kelly's size is what will allow him to have success in the NFL... but he is defintiely out of the 1st rd now...

Now we grab Thomas in Rd #1, and Kelly in rd #3 if he falls that far and we will have a real nice WR corp this year IMO....

just wishful thinking.... but if we do go WR in rd #1 I hope we successfully trade back 1/2 dozen slots.

ITS OFFICIAL: 4.75 Forty --- rest is not good either.

His numbers are bad but the comment is that he "looked very good"

Now it would officially be a reach to take him but what if he becomes a Plax type player for a team that drafts him in the 20's or the second round. Then would he have been worth the #11 pick?

drops him to the low 1st...somebody will get a steal if he can fully heal.

I think he is definitley out of the 1st and sliding down to the mid 2nd rd...

all depends on what people consider "football speed" - can he shake a defender, what is his speed at 10 yards or 20, and can he learn the playbook. How many times does a receiver run a 40 yard fly in the course of a game? not enough to really have an affect, imo.

i'd still take him in the 2nd... right after we take devin thomas in the 1st.

it says he looked great. obviously his 40 time is low and his other numbers arent up there, but hes recovering and i think he'll end up being the best of sweed, thomas and him.
