Who knew the 10th overall pick, wide receiver Mike Williams (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=7186), was going to be a bust in Detroit, or that fifth-round pick defensive end Trent Cole (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=7322) was going to be a Pro Bowler? These twists of fate are what make the draft worth watching, but they also are why it's tough to tell how good a team did on draft day until three years later.

12 Pro Bowlers came out of the 2005 draft: LB Shawne Merriman (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=7188) (Chargers, current grade: 93), DE DeMarcus Ware (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=7187) (Cowboys, current grade: 93), WR Braylon Edwards (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=7179) (Browns, current grade: 88), OT Jammal Brown (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=7189) (Saints, current grade: 87), G Logan Mankins (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=7208) (Patriots, current grade: 87), LB Lofa Tatupu (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=7221) (Seahawks, current grade: 87), RB Frank Gore (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=7241) (49ers, current grade: 84), DE Trent Cole (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=7322) (Eagles, current grade: 79), RB Marion Barber (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=7285) (Cowboys, grade: 77), QB Derek Anderson (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=7389) (Browns, grade: 74), KR Justin Miller (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=7233) (Jets, current grade: 65), KR Jerome Mathis (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=7290) (Texans, current grade: 56).

Fifty-four of the 255 players drafted are no longer in the league.

Only five teams' entire draft class remains in the NFL (Tennessee, N.Y. Giants, Miami, Houston and Baltimore).

No team has all its drafted players from 2005.

Billls 2005 Draft:

Buffalo
2. (55) Roscoe Parrish*, WR Miami (Fla)
3. (86) Kevin Everett, TE Miami (Fla)
4. (122) Duke Preston, C Illinois
5. (156) Eric King, CB Wake Forest

Parrish is actually working out. Who knows if Everett would have progressed last year. Preston sucks. I think King and Gates are hanging on elsewhere.

this is why I didn't expect Dick and Marv to clean the mess in their 2nd year. There are no excuses however this season.

SI had the first round of the Manning-Leaf draft. Talk about a clunker.

Another year we gave up a first-rounder for a POS

I remember I laughed at the Logan Mankins pick. :ill:
I thought King and Everett were going to be sick.

Maybe this is why TD is unemployed.

I have definitely liked the Marv drafts more.

C+ to D- for that draft? that looks like an F. How could it be worse. all we got was a punt returner in 6 out of the 7 rounds. granted i think that Roscoe has to show this year that he can be a WR as well as a special teams weapon.

And not just one or two big plays every other week. i want to see him get 5-8 touches a game.

Not going to happen for a #3 / #4 WR... Parrish will not be anything else, and requires that other WR's take the presure away from him, but when that happens he can be a dangerous #4 guy in the spread IMO

Drafts like this is why the Bills have been average-dismal the last couple of years. You really have to commend Marv and his staff to seemingly turn around the TD train wreck.
