Gumbel to leave NFL Network

Bryant Gumbel has given up his role as an NFL Network play-by-play announcer after two seasons.
The NFL Network said Friday it was looking for a new play-by-play announcer to work with Cris Collinsworth on the network's Thursday and Saturday night games.
"I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to call NFL Network games the past two years, which was a new experience for me," Gumbel said in a statement. "But we've agreed that we'd all be better served going in different directions."

My agent says they just need to work out the road hooker arrangement and an announcement is pending.

Sirius NFL Radio's Bob Papa would be a great replacement. He knows football, has been doing play by play for NY Giants already. Very witty as well.

I've never heard Schein do play-by-play though. Don't know if he even does it.

I don't care for him at all. So yes them getting rid of him is good news. Don't know about "big news".

It is good news. I think something happened though. Peter King wrote in his MMQB article today that Gumbel handled the situation with "class".
