OK. It's the moment you've all been waiting for. The Pat Moran 2008 Mock Draft. Ok, I'm obviously kidding. But this is the 2-round mock I've put together thus far on how I see the draft going down in a little under two weeks. I've intentionally waited as long as I can and haven't thrown out any previous mocks.

I haven't included any trades, and I'm sure there will be at least a handful, which obviously kills any published pre-draft mock.. An explanation of needs and potential trade up/downs will be in a seperate thread.

At any rate...

Well Pat, I commend you. They all seem like common sense picks for the teams. It's just for that reason alone why I think this will be drastically different from what most teams will actually pick though. Some teams have some pretty questionable picks in the first couple rounds.

That's my favorite first day combo for the Bills.

I see Mendenhall going to Detroit, Merling to Minnesota and I cant see Keller and Flowers going that high, and I see Phillips and Mayo going a little sooner. In the second round, I cant see Connor getting by New Orleans. Besides my personal nit picking I think its good.

Keep in mind, this is WITHOUT trades.. Im sure they will be which blows this or any mock out there up.

Balmer, Mayo and Brohm are all projected by most to go in the last first round, but I think all get into the second.

I agree with your Bills selections.

If Schonert's offense is anything like his predecessor's then a TE with the 2nd round pick is a wasted selection.. I'm thinking we go TE on the second day atleast, 3rd round at the absolute earliest.

nice mock. devin grows on me a little everyday. I still love hardy. Bennett is the key. Almost a no-brainer if you think about it.

Good job, Pat, thanks.

i am getting more fond of Devin Thomas as the draft gets closer.

Good work on the mock draft Pat. I bet it took alot of work. As for the Bills' picks, I think you filled the two most glaring needs. However, I was high on them drafting a WR in the first, but have really cololed on that since the draft is pretty deep at the position and rookie WRs rarely make huge contributions. Still, if we do go WR with the first without trading down, Thomas is the pick. In round 2, I love Bennett's size and speed and he automatically causes matchup problems for opposing defenses.

I'd be pretty happy if that's how the Bills' draft started out.

Eh....Taking Devin Thomas at 11 is a huge reach.

Reaching for a Need over Best player available is what gets GM's fired.

Remember Eric Flowers?

He wont be a reach by draft day time

I think we would take Fred Davis over Bennett

Devin

Nice job pat, while im not thrilled with Thomas I certainly love the Bennett pick and overall would be good with that draft.

I think the KC pick is a bit unlikely, I think they still wish to see what they have in Croyle. All in all though appears well thought out.

Nice work man.

We could trade down 20 more picks and still get Devin Thomas.

Thomas I understand.

I have major concerns with Bennett. While he's physically the best looking TE, his work ethic & attitude is a major concern. Doesn't seem like a Bills type of player. I'd be a bit surprised to see the Bills select him.

PFW - " Relies on his natural ability and does not like to work. Could require a lot of attention "
Ourlads Scouting - " Good athlete that is only limited by his work ethic "

I'm sure $$ will improve that.

TE John Carlson of ND or CB Patrick Lee of Auburn would make more sense here.

Passing on Doucet would be a big mistake in the 2nd round. Fred Davis would compliment Royal better than Bennett would.

That is exactly how my mock is going to go, the 1st 2 rds, Luv both players, and think that if we did it that way we make huge strides at TE and WR

Add Schmitt in the 4th and we filled some holes
Monk in the 5th or later would sure look nice too

I have a question regarding your mock. I remember you saying something like we are all insane if we think Derrick Harvey will be available as an option at 11, yet, in your mock you have him as an option. Does that mean you are as insane as the rest of us?

patmoran2006

When Did I say that? If I did, it was a lot earlier.. Certainly not recently.

What the heck, making me look up this information.

It was on April 4. Nine days isn't that long before your mock is it?
