Anyone catch the Malcom Kelly interview this morning on Sirius?

If any of you Zoners did, can you post a summary on his interview? I wanted to hear if he had anymore contact with the Bill's front office and what any of our reps said to him after he ran on his pro day.

    Thanks Guys!

Not directed to The Last Buffalo Fan, but some of you guys are just plain rediculous. Before Kelly's pro day you are crazy about drafting this guy with the 11th pick and with a slightly slower 40 time you wouldn't wipe your asses with his jersey. Talk about fair weather...

So he was supposed to run a 4.4 40 and ran a 4.6 40. How slow does .2 tenths of a second really equate to when you are loaded with pads? How many times did Kelly get caught from behind in game situations? Not many!
How fast do you think Plaxico Burress' 40 is? Or TO? We need a WR bad and I still won't be upset if we take our man at #12 whether it's Kelly or Thomas or Sweed. Obviously if we move down to get one of these three that is the best option that I would like to see but if we don't we seriously run the risk of not seeing any of these guys in round two and we are left with squat!

Call it a reach if you want but I don't want to see us pass up the opportunity to grab a solid WR. The Colston's of the league only pop up so often.

40 time isn't everything. Besides, how many of you guys would be pissed if your college switched your running surface 30 minutes before you were to run as fast as you possibly could to better your chances at getting picked higher? I don't think that Kelly should have publicly cried about it but I can understand his frustration.

BTW, did anyone out there catch this interview that can lend some details???

2 tenths of a second is a large difference ask any sprinter.

Burress prolly runs in the 4.55-4.6 range but Im pretty sure TO runs in the 4.4-4.5 range.

I wouldn't have a problem with malcolm kelly being drafted, but along with every other WR in the draft not at #11.

We need to trade down and grab a WR if that's the route we are going to go.

I don't believe waiting until the 2nd round for a WR is a good idea though.

This may work out to our advantage. Maybe we can get DRC AND Kelly(2nd)

for me, it wasn't so much the time but the "Waaahh- it's their fault, I want a do-over!" attitude. He took no responsibility and blamed everything but himself- the coaches, the field, etc. He could have at least said "The surface affected me but it's my fault because I wasn't prepared to run on that surface" or something along those lines instead of throwing a temper tantrum like a 4 year old who got orange juice when he wanted apple juice.

I agree. His reaction was more disappointing than the times. Lets hope it was a momentary lapse of judgement. I still wouldn't mind him in the second round. All the negative press he's received could really motivate him.

This is the scenerio I am praying pans out. DRC in the first, then have Malcolm fall to the 2nd for us. Id like to use the 3rd on the best TE available, and the 4th on the best center. Then of course Schmitt in the 4th as well. This is my dream draft.

Exactly! Speed isn't everything when we already have Lee on the opposite side. It would be interesting to see Thomas and Lee as a pair. Speed and speed. Good hands and good hands. No problem with either of their heights.

Regarding Kelly though...is it his slower 40 time or his tantrum that turns you Zoners off?

I think this was a knee jerk reaction from a young guy who moments before had his venue changed. I think that if you interviewed him a few days after the pro day you would have heard him spout a more polite rant.

if any of you just lost several million dollars, you think it would be out of the realm of possibility to be a little pissed and vent a bit?

                          hmm.

I think its a combination of the still unknown health of his knee(s), his maturity level, and his inconsistency in the game.

Medical questions aside, I think the other stuff is overblown.

He hasn't done himself any favors pre-draft and probably needs to grow up some, but questioning his maturity should not be confused with the lack of work ethic and desire like Dwayne Jarrett and Mike Williams display. Any maturity questions will be handled by veterans in the lockerroom as long as the kid wants to be a good player. I think Kelly falls into that category and will be fine.

I've always be impressed by how well Kelly catches the ball. He has big, strong hands and plays the ball well in the air. I don't think he has consistency issues beyond playing with a first-year starting QB the last couple years. I think he looks like a more polished WR than a lot of guys in this draft, and will make an earlier impact.
