tried- can't do it. I grew up in Rochester watching the Sabres and the Amerks (many of whom went on to be Sabres).

I was real busy for a few years because I was going to grad school, working full time and commuting, so I didn't have much time for the NHL. When I graduated and got back into it, I didn't feel like much of a Sabres fan after not paying attention for so long.... I tried watching the Caps, the Bruins and the Flyers but it just felt dirty and dishonest.

Trust me- it would be much easier to just root for the Caps so I could watch the games (or even go to the games) whenever I wanted, but it's not that simple.

The Sabres will be back in the playoffs. I think they are closer to an upswing than Ottawa. They are seriously screwed. They had a good core that was built for a championship and that window officially shut last night. I don't even know if they will make the playoffs next season.

yeah hard to believe compared to where they were at the start of the season but the sabres now appear closer to contention than the sens

we suck- we have no talent. We only have one defenseman that's worth a damn (jury's still out on Sekera and Weber). The FO already said there won't be any big additions- they don't spend money. There's only like 3 guys on the team that are under contract past 2009. There's no one in the farm system because the Sabres have raided the well so many times to replace injured players plus all the guys they let go- Grier, Dumont, Campbell, Zubrus, Briere, Drury, etc.

So, we were mediocre this year- we're going to be mediocre next year because it will be the same basic group of guys (unless the FO is lying and is actually going to spend money- don't hold your breath on that one). There's no young talent and the FO doesn't want to bring anyone in.

After two more years of mediocrity and an outflow of players, we're going to be forced to rebuild whether the FO likes it or not.

Unfortunately, too many times over too many years. Golisano could give two ****s about the Sabres, IMO. He's just been positioning himself to buy the Bills, waiting for Ralph to pass on.

God forbid that ever becomes a reality...If you think Wilson was cheap, just wait.
