NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports the Saints have had contact with the Rams about a potential trade up in the NFL Draft.

Schefter calls the talks "preliminary." The Saints could be eyeing Glenn Dorsey or Vernon Gholston with Will Smith in a contract season, but might have to offer 2009 picks because they have only six this year. While the Scott Linehan Rams have executed several draft-day trades, future choices won't entice St. Louis with Linehan in must-win mode. According to the new trade chart, it'd take New Orleans' first- and second-round picks to get to No. 2.

Locally they say its a lot more then just prelim talks. The Saints are rumored to be very heavily persuing that pick in an effort to land Dorsey. They said make no mistake about it they want Dorsey. The offer is apparently substantial.

That would be awesome. If Dorsey ended up in miami or NE id cry.

I know Atlanta heavily covets Dorsey or Jake Long, if they have Chris Long sitting in their laps I expect them to try and trade down.

Apparently Benson has given the green light "to make it happen no matter the cost".

Whether its because hes enamoured with the hometown hero or because he knows Dorsey will sell even more tickets/merchandise who knows. But the supposedly are offering a Ricky Williams -like deal for it.

Course if you look at it they had a great offseason, and they have tremendous talent on that team. They really are a player or two from being a top contender. Vilma, Dorsey, Smith, Grant, Fujita...etc. They would have a sick front 7 for sure.

Dorsey would be a great fit for them, they really need a DT.

Benson is not going to move up to get a high contract like that IMO. He is the Ralph Wilson of the Bayou.

It would only take their 1st and 2nd round picks this year? That isn't too bad.

Saints have paid out alot of money to major players the last few year, I would say at one time that was true but now he wants to build a winner no matter the cost

The question is how will the effect the Bills if the trade does happen. Could the Rams go after Harvey with the #10 pick?

It would be a good move for the Saints.

Not sure, maybe even a guy like Keith Rivers?

Are you kidding?

Drew Brees: 60 mil
Charles Grant: 63 mil
Reggie Bush: 52.5 mil
Deuce: 50 mil

Not to mention the figuresd being thrown around for Colston/Jammal Brown/Will Smith/Jahri Evans.

Benson is an ass no question but hes shown no issue tossing around cash.

Can we trade our first this year, a second next year, a third in 2010 and Ralph Wilson for Benson?

I'll settle for DT Sedric Ellis, if we must have sloppy seconds. :respect:
