There were no outrageous divots or bare tracks of dirt at Giants Stadium, just consistent shades of green and an equally consistent playing surface - things the MetroStars had not seen at home in years.
The debut of Giants Stadium's new FieldTurf was met with positive reviews after the MetroStars' 1-0 loss to Columbus. The polyethylene surface, which was installed nine days ago, is softer than the old versions of AstroTurf and is expected to improve as the rubber and sand base settles and gets more compact.
