Chiefs agreed to Terms. You can believe it or not. Either way...

This shouldn't really be shocking news, but is a big trade. Chiefs traded their best defensive player. Vikings D-line should be even more formidable.

Seems to be a good move by the Vikings.

I agree........great move by the Vikes. Too bad they have no QB or WRs

why
Because with the Chiefs now needing a DE then the chances of Derrick Harvey being available lessons.

Good. I hope KC or the Jets take Harvey.

Good news indeed.

According to Adam Schefter, Minnesota gave up the #17 and both of their 3rds (#73 and #82).

KC now has 6 picks between #5 and #82.

According to Jay Glazer, The Vikes are making Allen the NFL's highest-paid defender:

6 years, $74M with $31M guaranteed.

That seems like a lot of guaranteed money for a guy who has been arrested 2-times for DUI, and still owns a bar. He was suspended for 2 games last year and faces a much longer suspension should he get caught again.

Then again, he is a terror rushing the QB, and it isn't my money.

That is a ton o' guarenteed cash.

Wow.

Wow.

Shows you how screwed up the draft payscale is, though. Allen at least led the NFL in sacks last year. Jake Long got $30M guaranteed and he hasn't played a down yet.

Jared Allen, proof positive that a high motor Norwegian (not named Schobel, Denney, or Kelsay) can be a stud DE.

Chiefs wont take Harvey at 5. They will take Branden Albert or Ryan Clady and hope they get Harvey at 17.

Or send us their 17th pick + a 3rd + a 4th (or maybe even a 2nd if the Bills throw in their 4th!) to get Harvey at 11. He won't get past the Panthers at 13 and the Lions at 15.

They could potentially take Merling at 17.

DE's that can get to the QB aren't a prority in this league. Ask the Bills.

I think they take Gholston or Chris Long at #5 and trade up to get Albert, Otah or Clady. Buffalo is an ideal dancing partner if Buffalo want to trade down. I think their will be a run at OL in the 11-15 range with Buffalo being able to trade down to the late teens and still get the WR they covet.

This must mean that Minnesota wasn't sold on Merling or Harvey because they could've traded up with us, probably for as little as a 3rd round pick and maybe another 2nd day pick. I think the Chiefs really got the better of the deal.

The Vikes just got @ss raped. To give up that kind of compensation and then throw that contract on top of it, it's not a great deal for them. And it looks even worse considering his previous off field problems. I wonder if there is language in the contract to safeguard the Vikes should he get in more trouble.

I highly doubt that Gholston or Long will be around at #5. Chris will go to St.Louis and Gholston to the Raiders.

Still see the Chiefs trading up after they take Albert at 5.

I think the Chiefs will replace Allen with the # 5 pick (Gholston or Long) and then trade up for a OL. If they take Albert at #5 then they still need to replace Allen so they will need to trade up to get Harvey because Harvey is on Detrot's and Carolina's radar. Either way the Chiefs will need to trade up from #17 to get Allen's replacement and a great OLman.
