I just got a call from a friend that said if Harvey is at #11 the Bills are taking him and trading him to Detroit for Williams.

Does this make any sense?

Has anyone heard this????

Does Detroit need a DE??

I have a friend inside and he's told me nothing like this.

Why not trade our No11 to the Lions for Williams and let them take Harvey?

Personally I think we could trade our No1 to the Lions for Williams and their No2?

No it's not reported anywhere.

So we're drafting Roy Williams with our #11 pick.

I didn't know the lions wanted a DE?

The Lions do want a DE, and they are supposedly interested in Harvey.

All I heard was Roy wants to go to Dallas.

That would suck, only because I'm not fond of the 'strategy' of taking a player and then dumping him off to another team immediately. If Detroit wants him, trade straight up and let the Lions make the pick.

BTW, the Bills would trade the pick before drafting Harvey due to the rookie cap.

They would have to. If the Bills draft Harvey, they get the rookie cap space allotted for that pick, not the Lions.

If we somehow land Roy Williams, even by using the 11 pick or a player we took at 11, I will be one happy man.

Harvey has to be there at #11 or the trade is mute.

The Bills taking him saves time and doesn't jeopardize the deal with the new format requiring official notice and having less time to do it.

But they can't do it like that. The Lions would not have the rookie cap space to do sign Harvey.

Theywould HAVE to trade the pick.

isnt Roy williams in the last year of his contract? it doesnt make a whole lot of sense to me unless the bills are going to lock up both williams and evans, and i dont see that happening

I dont think thats true. If they make a trade for a player that was drafted, its the same as drafting them themselves and they would then allow for the additional cap.

He is. Maybe this is a situation similar to Marcus Stroud where we let Tripplett go who doesnt fit our new plans, and bring in someone who does. The Bills have said they want better size at WR, maybe they are trading for him, to get him here a year early. Then he plays with Evans next year, and we decide to keep one or the other
