cb is another position where its tough for a rookie to be ready early and since the bills have two solid corners already i dont see them in any hurry to get mckelvin in the lineup

but smallish cbs are also notorious for getting dinged up so as much as i hope the top two stay healthy im gonna say sometime around midseason mckelvin gets a chance to start and does well enough to push greer inside - or perhaps even to the dime cb if james beats him out on the depth chart

With the veteran CBs that they have, the Bills don't have to rush McKelvin into the starting lineup, so I don't think he will start immediately.

But, I do think that he has the kind of talent and ability that will allow him to start getting playing time in their dime and, possibly, their nickle defenses (with McKelvin playing on the outside and McGee moving inside against the slot WRs, as the Bills did two years ago when they brought in K.Thomas in their nickle and dime defenses) early in the season, maybe even right from the start.

If he does well in those situations early in the season, I can see him making a push to be in the starting lineup by midseason, much in the way that Nate Clements took over as a starter when he was a rookie.

If the Bills didn't already have McGee, Greer and James, I think McKelvin has the ability to be a NFL starter sooner. But, with the CBs that they have, I don't think that the Bills will feel that they must put him into the starting lineup immediately and will give him a chance to "get his feet wet" first rather than "throwing him into the deep end" right away.

Still, I think that McKelvin is good enough that it won't take him long to "learn how to swim" well enough that he will be getting "starter's minutes" by midseason.

McGee and Greer are solid for now, and I don't see McKelvin replacing either one right away. Mid-season, or later even.

By the bye week. He will be a nickel corner until that and will take over for Terrence McGee as our starting kick returner.

Will he be our KR guy ? Its a young guys game and McGee aint getting younger.

yeah I think he will be our KR guy and maybe even our PR guy. He had 8 TDs in returns last year, 7 punt returns and 1 KR. Plus that will make it so Terrence McGee can focus solely on CB and get better there.

no way does he supplant roscoe as pr. no way in hell

but i do think they let him take over kr pretty quick and let mcgee concentrate on corner

I put in McKelvin when he earns the #1 spot by playing better than the rest in preseason and/or the practice field

He better be the starter from day 1. He was the 11th pick and with the 11th pick I expect starting from day one material.

He won't start right off the bat, but he could be a nickel guy that replaces Kiwaukee Thomas.

Juaron doesn't seem to change up the starters very easily, with the exception of QB. He seems to be over loyal at times, IMO.

I think he comes on strong early in coverage. But, with the alleged lack of "ball skills" maybe he doesn't do enough big plays so pass the incumbent Greer preseason. But, being drafted so high, he will be watched closely and I think he will have shinned enough by game 6 to be getting those "starter minutes".

But, I will reduce the guess to game five randomly factoring in chance of injury to a starter.

My guess is he will be our #1 going into '09.
