When you have to face Tom Brady and the AFC East rival New England Patriots twice a season, you learn in a hurry where your defensive weaknesses lie.

The Buffalo Bills moved swiftly to address the most glaring of those concerns in yesterday's NFL draft using their first pick (11th overall) to select cornerback Leodis McKelvin.

"From a talent standpoint, he's a terrific athlete and he has excellent cover skills," Bills vice president of college scouting Tom Modrak said. "He's an all-around corner. We were fortunate (the first round) broke they way we wanted it to break."

While many speculated the Bills would draft a receiver first, the other obvious need was at corner. Since letting Nate Clements, another first-round pick, go to free agency following the 2006 season, the Bills were particularly vulnerable at that position.
Brady and the Pats torched Buffalo for nine touchdowns through the air last year as the weakness was dramatically exposed. So enter McKelvin, a 5-foot-11 prospect from Troy, who was projected as the top corner in the draft.
