VOMIT~

How you take this kid over Robertson is beyond me.

there are 31 other teams that didnt think robertson was worth a pick too.

Ellis is a speed rusher.. he is perfect for adding extra pass rush in a rotational basis. he is exactly what we needed.

Take this for what it's worth.

Around here there is a school called Fork Union Military Academy, a prep school that gets a lot of guys into the D1 schools and eventually the NFL.
A lot of guys.

Their head coach said as recently as September that Chris Ellis has the potential to be a better pass rusher than Chris Long, and he knows Ellis VERY WELL.

Obviously, that was before Long really popped in his senior year, but I will mention that a lot of Long's sack highlights came when they started moving him around, getting him on weaker linemen, and the ACC has a pretty big dropoff in linemen once you get beyond LT.
It isn't the SEC.

Anyway, he is thought 'round these parts to be a potentially GREAT pass rusher who just hasn't hit full stride yet.

They drafted an undersized white guy who has no strength?

He might not make it, but to compare him to Mamula is a stretch.

first off.. the reference to mike mamula is one of the worst that i have ever seen.. mamula shot up the boards due to being a workout warrior.. nothing like ellis..

second.. he got manhandled at the senior bowl? really? were you watching a different game than everyone else in the world?

you clearly dont like the pick.. fine.. you will in time.. but to just straight up lie is pretty gay.

Tatonka
04-27-2008, 11:11 AM
anyone who actually watched more than a handful of tech games would say that this kid is a player. he is solid against the run and he is a great pass rusher. he is not a situational pass rusher, but bill be used as one and will put us in a better spot if we suffer an injury.

Wasnt the the waste of a third round pick Corey Moore. That didnt work out in my book quite as well as it did in yours i guess.

Coastal, did you lie about that? Did he get manhandled atteh senior bowl or not?

coastal
04-27-2008, 11:52 AM
yes... based on our later round picks... and our first two picks...

Brandon Albert would have helped this power running team be just that.

But oh no... let's take a 5'10" CB when we play Randy Moss twice a year.

Then we take a 6'5" WR who is going to have a very hard time getting separation in the NFL. Sure he can win jump balls from time to time, but we need an every down receiver. Hardy ain't it.

Then we draft Ellis... total waste of a ****ing pick.

Then this 5'9" CB from Akron....

Cmon... this is absolute BS.

Albert...

Reggie Smith...

Andre Caldwell...

trade up and get Mike McGlynn...

horrible!

moore was a LB and was a totally different player, but thanks for the comparison that is not even remotely close again.

moore was super small. ellis is protypical de size.

Again, I don't follow the draft as much as some of you so I don't know anything about this player specifically, but I'm not at all satisfied with our current crop of DE's. Kelsay and Schobel are both inconsistent and overpaid for the production we get out of them. They both line up too wide and overrun the plays. Denney is what he is- a decent guy to have in the rotation. He'll suffice for giving the starters a few plays to rest without being completely dominated, but he's by no means a game-breaker.

So this is definitely a position where we need some help. And remember the Al Wallace conversation? Several of us (myself included) said it's worth the risk as long as he's not taking a spot from a younger guy- well, here's the younger guy.

I am frustrated that the FO continues to neglect the offense, but this pick makes sense for a lot of reasons.

And btw, at 263 he's got 20 lbs on Schobel and he'll probably add muscle over the next year or so- he's a good size for a DE.

raw unpolished good talent guy.

i like it cuz he just has to play like 20% of snaps filling in for our starters.

inspite of what people here say aaron is a very good pro bowl DE, and sliding behind him will give ellis a chance to disrupt and stay fresh all year.

I like Albert quite a bit, but not enough to completly lie about Ellis' production in the senior bowl. We don't know if he'll pan out or not, but why not just admit that he played very well in the senior bowl? A lot of us watched the game. A lot of us live in VA and have interest in the local schools. I'm a UMD alum, so I wanted Dre Moore today, but I have a lot of friends who went to Vtech and UVA, so I get to keep up with their players pretty well.

Don't know anything about him but I am concerned about his right shoulder. Two operations ('03 and '07) for the same thing. Is anyone else a bit concerned? Otherwise I have no issues with the pick (again, mostly because I've only read about him, not seen him....and because we do need someone on the other side of the line who can rush)

Guys I would not worry about Coastal. He think he knows more than Bills management as well as a lot of the experts who have praised Buffalo's picks. I just laugh at these types of posters that are so opinionated yet are posting this weekend but act like they deserve to be the GM and working in a war room right now.

I grew up in the shadow of the Ralph and got to enjoy the haydays of the 90's.

Ever since Ralph fired Polian for telling Ralph's daughter to go **** herself, this organziation has been a disaster.

Today's selections along with Russ Brandon acting like he has one clue of what he is doing from a football ops standpoint just goes to show that nothing has changed.
