WNSA just reported on the 12:00 sports report that the Bills have given T. Henry and extention, but they gave no other details!

They have also pulled the other off the table for O. Gary!

Wow, thats cool for Henry, good move. Too bad about about Gary, we could have used him, oh well. We can draft a middle or late round backup, no worries. Good to sign him now, cuz when his contract is up hell be a superstar and he'll want tons of money, good to sign him now and minimize cap hits down the road.

I guess pulling ary's offer shows that TD is not messing around. You either want to play here or not. No games.
TD must of realized there isn't much out there to spend the remaining cap money on so to offset future potential problems he takes care of business now....

...and Pat Williams? Good news. Go Bills! IMO, we didnt need Gary anyways, is he that much better than Sammy Morris?

Yeah that would be awsome. TD is so smart. Waiting for his contract to be up to resign him is good in the short term cuz Henry's new contract is prolly a lot more than his old one, but not as much as it would be in 2004. It saves us tons of money down the road, and the cap hit comes now when we have the room and can afford to take it.

Pat Williams might get an extention but it will be more of a restructure...he needs his base salary for next year knocked down...$2.96 Million in base is way too much...

im not sure, but i found this:

2001 - $209000.00
2002 - $300000.00
2003 - $389000.00
2004 - $750000.00
2005 - $1250000.00

his last contract was supposed to end after 2004 right? so the extension is for 1 more year(2005)?

TB, if that is true that is the fastest that NFLPA ever got data out to the public. It would also mean that he got a raise from $418,000 to $750,000 next season. A one year extension is better than none. I wonder what the signing bonus is. That will be amoritized over 3 years.

No way they got it that fast. I think its a 2 year extension at the least.

Thats why i said im not sure Eb....thats what i saw and im sure his last contract ends after the 2004 season.

Why else would the site add another year on the contract?

Henry signed a 4 yr deal as a rookie.

Since WNSA is reporting an extension, it's only for 1 yr. But this makes a ton of sense......now TD can concentrate on getting Winfield and P. Williams done :)

How would you know it's only for 1 year? That sucks, one year is just postponing the inevidible giant contract.

Oh I get it an extension is by definition a 1 year thing, it's not a new contract. Then dont give Winfield an extension give him a new contract, we already have too mnay FA's in 2004.

Schobel94

The more I think about it the better it sounds. We have so many guys up for FA in 2004 it's nice to get one outa the way, and put him in a year where there aren't as many.

WNSA is reporting that ge got a new deal not an extension.

Meanwhile, Bills starting RB Travis Henry has a new deal with the club. Details on the contact were not immediately available.

I was listening to WNSA and they say its just one year, to keep him here through 2005.

Shout is suggesting what NFLPA was suggesting... a 1-year 1.3mil extension.

Umm.. nobody else mentioned this, so maybe it's compltely wrong but...

Signing him out of college we got him for four years. Now we have him for a fifth, so when his contract runs out he's gonna be a UFA instead of an RFA.

This means we're gonna have to franchise him a'la Peerless to get value for him, if he decides he wants to leave.

If his contract was allowed to expire after 4 years, we'd have exclusive rights to him inherently, thus saving the franchise designation.

So, if this is true, I don't know if I like the deal so much.. Cap experts, is it so??

Eb or CP is this to free up money for something this year (June 1st) or other player on our roster for something down the road? It just seems odd to only give one more year unless something is up!

Now that we pull the offer off the table for O. Gary what's the plan for back up RB, I don't think Morris is a long term anwser if Henry gets hurt?

Doc

pB: Players become eligible for UFA after 4 years, like with Peerless this year. Henry's original deal was for 4 years and adding another year keeps him with the Bills a year longer at a MUCH cheaper price than if he became an UFA. A great move.
