A Pennsylvania newspaper is reporting that the Bills have signed Joe Brockington, LB, from Notre Dame as a UDFA:

"Another midstate product, Notre Dame linebacker and Palmyra graduate Joe Brockington, agreed to a free-agent contract with the Buffalo Bills. "

Army's FB Mike Viti signed a UDFA deal with the Bills.

Bills told him he'd be the only rookie FB they would sign. 5'9'' 240 blocking FB.

What was he again? A fairly high rated TE? Or FB? Can't believe we lost him to the Jets.

                  Re: UDFA Signings

Caulcrick was a hard-running but slow short-yardage RB--very good in the red zone--who was projected as a FB in the NFL.

I think one of the reasons that he may have chosen the Jets over the Bills could be that the Jets offered to give him a chance to make their roster as a RB: he made a comment that was quoted in a newspaper piece about him before the draft about wanting to continue being a RB and not really wanting to switch to FB in the NFL.

The Bills had already indicated that they would only be interested in bringing Caulcrick in to play FB.

Personally, I don't think Caulcrick can make it in the NFL as a RB, but, if he wants to give it a shot and has to go to the Jets to get that opportunity, good luck to him. I think both he and the Bills are better off having him go elsewhere if he doesn't want to play FB for them.

Apparently there is a new rule that they can serve that commitment as a recruiter if they play in the NFL.
