Chris Brown: Bills really want Losman

LOSMAN SITUATION: It shouldn't be overly surprising that Bills COO Russ Brandon expressed a commitment to J.P. Losman for the 2008 season. Granted things can change, but there really aren't any other quarterback options that are better than Losman out there, so for a team gunning for the playoffs, why pull the best backup option off of your team? I understand there may be hard feelings, and J.P. probably wants to start, but quarterbacks get hurt in this league. In fact both Losman and Edwards got hurt last season. Does this mean he won't get traded before the 2008 season? That's tough to say. Some other team could lose a quarterback to injury in training camp and be desperate and offer the Bills the moon. You never know what can happen. Football is a fluid business so it's difficult to deal in absolutes. But they're not actively shopping Losman as many outside observers thought they would this weekend.

That being said I do expect the Bills to bring in at least one undrafted free agent at quarterback this week as a fourth arm.

I think JPs stock will rise as camp comes to an end and a team loses their starting QB for a few games. Teams will be more apt to overpay then rather than on draft day.

I am not completely sold that the FO wants to keep JP. I thik they should for camp competition at a minimum but it will be hard to keep him if some dumbass team comes calling and offering a 3rd round next year.

Seriously get Loserman off this roster now!

The last thing this team needs is a divided lockeroom and more yapping at the mouth from Evans, especially if Losman has to come in for a game or two if Edwards gets hurt for some reason.

Also doesn't the front office realize that both Losman and Evans are free agents after the 2008 season and if we don't lock up Evans long term he will probably want to follow his lover and roomate to a new team if somebody is desperate for QB help.

Even teams that are desperate for a back up qb could've had Kelly for nothing. They instead passed on him and wasted a pick on unproven college qb's instead of going for the "wily vet"
