I was one of those people who were upset that we didn't grab a big name TE in the draft, among Bennett, Keller, Rucker, Carlson, Davis, etc. I felt we really needed some help at TE and a huge dude with catching ability would really help Edwards.

I had forgotten what we already have brought in in the offseason.

Courtney Anderson is 6'6" 270 lbs.
Teyo Johnson is 6'6" 260 lbs.

Robert Royal is no Tony Gonzalez, but he doesn't suck that bad.

Derek Fine could also compete.

I think we might be okay at that position.

U forgot Tim Massaqoui and Derek Schouman

All and all hopefully we are in postion to grab a nice UDFA, or Vet release, i think Gaines leaving hurt us more than we want to admit, U never know what u got in Schouman and Fine, but it would have been nice to add a TE in this draft that can get down feild

I think that's the Bills' reasoning too... I'm not sure I really buy it at this point though. At least we got some receiver help for Trent though...

project type TEs are huge busts most of the time.

a 2nd or 3rd DOES NOT mean you have a good solid TE. fasano has done jack in dallas and plenty of other guys haven't panned out after going in the 2nd or 3rd.

just not that much talent at that position -- that's why i'm not mad about who we have. we got hardy who is our big RZ threat.

A lot of the problem with our past TE production has been under utilization.

I believe Turk will have the TE's more involved.

It's funny you said that because I just can't shake the fact the Fine kind of fits right into those same molds.

now Fasano is off to do the same in Miami (at least I hope he continues to underperfrom for the fish).

I remembered that Buffalo has signed Courtney Anderson and Teyo Johnson. I also remember hearing a report somewhere that the Bills have high hopes for that pair and thought that TE was not as great a need as those outside the organization thought. That doesn't make me any less disappointed that they failed to take anyone that could be a "stretch the middle" type receiving TE. Teyo Johnson supposedly has pretty good athleticism and speed for such a big guy, but I don't like putting all my eggs in on basket like that, especially given that Teyo Johnson had failed to stick with the two clubs he's played on and had to sit out last season.

Wow dude...really...do you have eyes? did you see the games where Royal pretty much did something stupid and lost the game for us?? Holding in critical situations, dropping that TD pass in the Titans game we NEEDED to win to get to the playoffs...he's a bum as far as I'm concerned.

Agreed. Anderson will probably be the better blocker given his big frame, but our real only hope is for Schouman to develop...

So he dropped a big pass. I understand your frustration. But it doesn't mean he's a bum in general.

Asante Samuels dropped a big time INT and lost the Pats the Super Bowl. He signed a huge contract.

The Bills haven't had a decent TE in years. For the life of me, I don't understand why they wouldn't get Trent a nice TE target. This offense is brutal, and a TE would help immensely.
