Adam Schefter had an interesting tidbit (http://www.nfl.com/draft/story;jsessionid=B53034788643C469EF00FA3E39772A71?id=09000d5d8080c9b1&template=with-video&confirm=true) on Atlanta maybe being interested in Losman if they hadn't drafted Ryan:

Had Atlanta missed on Ryan, it’s entirely possible the Falcons could have turned to the Bills for a quarterback. The Falcons offensive coordinator is Mike Mularkey, who drafted quarterback J.P. Losman in Buffalo. And Falcons tight ends coach Chris Scelfo was Losman’s head coach at Tulane. So when two of Losman’s former head coaches are on the same staff –- and both boosters of his -– there was every chance Atlanta would have made a move for him had Ryan not fallen to No. 3.

Didn't they already sign the QB Losman was cloned from, Harrington?

Interesting theory, but it's only speculation. Does he have anything to back it up other than his opinion from adding 2 + 2?

I think plan B for them would've been going for a lineman in the first, QB in the second.

Yea and I heard if Peyton Manning died they would want to trade for Losman too

I have a hard time imagining Ryan going higher than 3. As it stood, I thought the Falcons reached for Ryan and should have shied-away from taking a QB so high, again.

There were rumors that Baltimore was trying to leapfrog into the #2 spot to snag Ryan ahead of Atlanta.

There were also rumors that NE wanted to trade up to the 2nd overall pick just to trade it to Buffalo for JP straight up.

Peter King's article yesterday explained how close a a St Louis/Baltimore trade was and Ryan would have been a Raven.

I don't the possibility of this though. Mularkey yanked Losman around. Why would he want him again?

Atlanta is so dumb for taking Ryan at that spot. ESPN was talking about it yesterday and they are right. Nobody can honestly say for sure that he is any better than Henne. Ryan had no business being selected that high. Atlanta should've taken Dorsey.

Harrington is a better QB anyway so I'm not sure why they would want Losman unless they needed additional camp fodder.
