Seems they've drafted him with the hopes that he can become a short-yard specalist.
Guess that even though Lynch is one hell of a runner and a tough SOB, the organization wasn't that confident in him after watching tape last year that he excels in short-yardage situations. personally it would help if the OL run blocked better and the entire stadium didn't know what was coming, but I digress.
Anywho, though I know very, very little about Odom personally, from what I"ve gathered and read he's a really tough runner in between the tackles.
When I asked the guy for a player and role to compare him too, he said that he is a shorter Brandon Jacobs. Many will remember while Tiki Barber was the featured back in NY, Jacobs was their short yard specialist.
So assuming the team drafted him specificaly for this kind of role, at the 6th round it could turn out to be a really solid value pick.
Lynch being the featured back, Jackson giving him a blow a few times a game and being used on sure passing downs more, and Odom as the short-yardage specialist.
Like it.
