    The Real Draft Grade

We all know you can't really tell how well a team drafts until at least 3 years later, when the players have a chance to prove themselves.

Here's a look at the Bills' draft in April 2005, 3 years ago.

    2005
1 Rd2 Roscoe Parrish WR Miami (FL)
2 Rd3 Kevin Everett TE Miami (FL)
    3 Rd4 Duke Preston C Illinois
4 Rd5 Eric King DB Wake Forest
    5 Rd6 Justin Geisinger G Vanderbilt
6 Rd7 Lionel Gates RB Louisville

Parrish is a decent role player. Everett is done so that doesn't count. The rest of the draft is crap as none of them is with the team now.

    D-

It would've been an F if Roscoe wasn't that damn fast and could return.

    Thanks Donahoe.

this draft looked horrible since the day it happened. I have no idea what we were thinking on that day.

Eb put up a poll about this. Nobody went with better than a D. Deservingly so.

Duke Preston was terrible. The reason why haven't made the playoffs is our bad luck in drafting O-Line.

            Re: The Real Draft Grade

            2003 was pretty good:

1 Rd1 Willis McGahee RB Miami (FL)
2 Rd2 Chris Kelsay DE Nebraska
3 Rd3 Angelo Crowell LB Virginia
4 Rd4 Terrence McGee DB Northwestern State (LA)
5 Rd4 Sam Aiken WR North Carolina
            6 Rd5 Ben Sobieski G Iowa
7 Rd6 Lauvale Sape DT Utah
8 Rd7 Mario Haggan LB Mississippi State

McGahee was a risk/reward thing. He got us some good draft picks in the trade.
Kelsay is decent but I think went way too high.
Crowell was great value in the 3rd round.
McGee in the 4th was a major steal.
The rest of the guys never panned out, including Aiken.

Had McGahee been more fricking grateful that we took a chance on him, it would've been an A-. As it is:

              2004:

1 Rd1 Lee Evans WR Wisconsin
              2 Rd1 J.P. Losman QB Tulane
3 Rd3 Tim Anderson DT Ohio State
4 Rd4 Tim Euhus TE Oregon State
              5 Rd7 Dylan McFarland T Montana
6 Rd7 Jonathan Smith RB Georgia Tech

Evans, good pick. JP, a split decision but Round 1 was too high for him, plus we gave up the farm too. The rest was junk.

Id give it a C+ only getting on Day 2 guy to really make a big impact on your team and the reach on Kelsay.

Unless I missed something, Duke Preston is still with the team, although I agree that he is not very good.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

Everyone can agree that the majority of the draft picks from TD were TERRIBLE. I like how the draft has gone the last 3 years.

this could be one of the all time worst drafts for the Bills. Maybe the Erik FLowers draft was worse.

The TD years proved what everyone has said. if you miss on your pick and you're picking in the top 10, it hurts real bad on the cap and washes through with more losing seasons. imagine if we ddint' get mike williams, but a marginally capable player? maybe we'd be fully a playoff team right now.
