    Colts cut Bryan Fletcher

from sporting news fantasy site ....

    Bryan Fletcher - TE, Indianapolis
    Colts released TE Bryan Fletcher.
Fantasy Source spin: Another unanticipated move, and one Peyton Manning probably won't approve of. Fletcher was a consistent performer for the Colts, catching 18 passes in each of the past three years as a No. 3 tight end. GM Bill Polian apparently feels comfortable with Jacob Tamme and Tom Santi behind Dallas Clark.

          Re: Colts cut Bryan Fletcher

Cost cutting move for Indy. He was given the $927K low tender. They then selected 2 TE in the draft, in the 4th and 6th rounds. Why pay a 3rd TE close to $1M for one year when you can lock up a couple rookies cheap for short money over the next few years?

Same goes for Dylan Gandy, who Indy released. Gandy is a reserve OL (OG) who has started 14 games for the Colts over the last 3 years. However, the Colts drafted 3 interior OL in the draft, so why pay Gandy $1M this year when you can sign those rookies for short money and lock them up for several? Because the Colts have so much money tied up in their core players, they keep recycling their depth with young players. It works well for them because they have such a good core to build around and because Bill Polian does a great job finding talent.

Both players would be experienced reserves that would help a team looking for depth in a particular area. Neither is going to be great, but both are decent players to provide depth.
