    Thank you Sabres

For having the good sense to not offer Campbell anything beyond a 3 year deal.

As a finesse player, chances are good that his effectiveness will diminish as he ages and adds mileage to his undersized body.

He can't play in his own end and gets pushed around by opposing forwards at 27. It makes you wonder how inept will he be in his own end at 33?

And he doesn't have a booming shot like a Souray, where at least he can become a PP weapon down the road.

In the right system and surrounded by the right talent, Campbell could flourish during the first couple years of the 7 or 8 year deal he'll likely sign.

But, as he crosses over to the wrong side of 30, he's ultimately going to become a very expensive liability for whichever team commits to him.

That's a situation the Sabres could ill afford to put themselves in.

Campbell is clutch at getting untimely penalties..

to lose his team the series.

Flips it over the glass in '06, now a trip in 4OT in '08. What a goof.

it's a team game...one person does not a game or a series make.

Campbell cost his team the game and from everything I heard/saw, he was not very good at all in the post season. Funny how that works.

the game?? really? I'm not defending Campbell but the other 17 skaters had 6 periods to score enough goals to win? Thornton could have iced that game at least twice and blew it. Was Campbell at fault for the first three losses that put them down 0-3? Where were the "blame Campbell" threads after those first three?

Ironic that Campbell took the penalty that gave the Stars the chance to win?? Yes. Is he at fault for them losing a 4OT game and the series? Hardly.

That was a pretty bad time to take a penalty. And yes, throughout these playoffs I heard so many times how his poor play severely contributed to San Jose choking again.
