And definitely Jason Pominville....

You can do it Darcy! Just ignore Larry Quinn.

true. Miller is good, but I think we could do better. Pominville is the main priority. He's pretty damn good and will be the leader for this team hopefully.

Miller looked bad at times because his defense was crap in front of him last year. I think Miller is priority number 1 too.

He had no defense in front of him for shootouts.

He had a terrible year on shootouts, true. But I can't believe he just got terrible in one year.

Unless I'm mistaken Miller stopped about 50% of his shootout attempts (which I believe isn't enough) but I think the shooters only scored on like 30% of their shots so this isn't all on Miller. He gets a lot of unneccessary blame in the shootouts.

Is there any way to see how many goals we scored in shootouts this past year compared to the previous? I would assume Miller stayed around the same level while our goals for tally took a drop.

Sabres SO shooters percentage:
2007-08: 12 for 43 (27.9 percent, 24th in NHL)
2006-07: 17 for 47 (36.2 percent, 11th in NHL)

Miller's SO goals allowed percentage:
2007-08: 14 for 33 (57.6 percent, 46th in NHL)
2006-07: 9 for 46 (80.4 percent, 10th in NHL)

looks like both crapped the bed...

RockStar36

Both did. Which is why Miller shouldn't get 100% of the blame on shootouts like he tends to. It goes both ways. How many times was it tied going into the last round when a Sabres player would completely whiff on the puck and not even get a shot. Then when Miller lets it up it is all on him.

Philagape

The shooters' percentage declined, but Miller plummeted. It's not all on him, but it's more on him.

Miller blew this year...

I'm not sure what they should do...

too bad for those guaranteed $$ in the NHL...the Sabres would be better of extending him for another 2 years after this next one...but no way he'll take anything less than 5...

which I think is too big of a risk...

Even though I'm very concerned about Gerbe's size, I have to give the FO credit on this one. They got the deal done on time and they got it done for a great price.

Dr. Lecter

Great Price?

It was the maximum he could earn. There was really no choice or real negotiating.

d'oh, I read it wrong.

Still, they get credit for not going cheap.

You finally say something positive and it is wrong.

I felt dirty pointing it out.
