Olie Kolzig, the Washington Capitals goaltender through some of the best and worst moments in the team's history, confirmed yesterday what had been suspected for weeks: He has played his final game for the franchise that drafted him in 1989.
Would you take Kolzig to backup Miller?

I wouldn't mind having him as a back up but like S11 already said, he'll probably cost too much.

Kolzig would be an amazing addition to the team.

So it's the lesser of two evils.

Originally posted by RockStar36I don't see how he is going to get overpaid.... I think he has deserved any raise he gets. A franchise goalie is hard to get and they would be dumb not to lock him up.
If he continues to play like he did this past season, giving him a franchise goaltender's paycheck would be dumb.

Originally posted by RockStar36Oh jesus christ. You're right, let him walk. **** it. Let's bring up some 18 year old kid and go through 4 years of development again.
But if we give Miller a huge contract and he's still playing like he played this past season while eating up cap room, how are we going to re-sign or replace all the guys that aren't under contract at that point?
Good teams are the teams that use cap space on players who perform- Sabres management has no real choice but to pay Miller and hope they get the 06-07 version and not the 07-08 version.
