Converted tight end Matt Murphyhttp://www.buffalobills.com/images/relatedicon.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=6086#) worked at left tackle with the second unit.

Marshawn Lynch as expected was first through the rotation at tailback. Fred Jacksonhttp://www.buffalobills.com/images/relatedicon.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=6086#) was also utilized with the first group and at times both were on the field simultaneously.

With Robert Royalhttp://www.buffalobills.com/images/relatedicon.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=6086#) out of the mix (knee), Derek Schoumanhttp://www.buffalobills.com/images/relatedicon.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=6086#) got the starter reps with Courtney Andersonhttp://www.buffalobills.com/images/relatedicon.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=6086#) spelling him at times.

Paul Poslusznyhttp://www.buffalobills.com/images/relatedicon.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=6086#) manned the starting middle linebacker spot, but John DiGiorgiohttp://www.buffalobills.com/images/relatedicon.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=6086#) did get some work with the first unit as well.

With three of Buffalo's draft picks cornerbacks they made their presence felt. Though Terrence McGeehttp://www.buffalobills.com/images/relatedicon.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=6086#) and Jabari Greerhttp://www.buffalobills.com/images/relatedicon.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=6086#) remained as the starters, top pick Leodis McKelvinhttp://www.buffalobills.com/images/relatedicon.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=6086#) worked on the left side with the second group as veteran Will Jameshttp://www.buffalobills.com/images/relatedicon.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=6086#) was on the other side. Ashton Youbotyhttp://www.buffalobills.com/images/relatedicon.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=6086#) ran with Reggie Cornerhttp://www.buffalobills.com/images/relatedicon.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=6086#) with the third unit. Kennard Coxhttp://www.buffalobills.com/images/relatedicon.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=6086#) did not see much work.

At safety Donte Whitnerhttp://www.buffalobills.com/images/relatedicon.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=6086#) and Ko Simpsonhttp://www.buffalobills.com/images/relatedicon.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=6086#) were back together again for the first time in eight months manning the middle of the defensive backfield. Bryan Scotthttp://www.buffalobills.com/images/relatedicon.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=6086#) and George Wilsonhttp://www.buffalobills.com/images/relatedicon.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=6086#) were their backups. John Wendlinghttp://www.buffalobills.com/images/relatedicon.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=6086#) and Jon Cortohttp://www.buffalobills.com/images/relatedicon.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=6086#) ran third team.

Good to hear that Simpson and Poz are out on the field again.

There has been a lot of speculation that Simpson would not be ready for the regular season.

Is Royal hurt? Still hurt?

Is Royal hurt? Still hurt?

I think they cleaned out his knee. Not sure when they did that or how long it takes to recover.

I am excited to see the TE competition unfold this off-season. Hopefully, one of Schouman, Anderson, Fine or Johnson can step up.

My first impression on reading this was that it looks like they are giving some guys a chance to show that they belong on the offensive side of the ball: ie Preston, Schouman, Wright.

The thing that stood out for me on the defensive side was that they had McCargo working at the nose a lot (I was less surprised to see K.Williams at the 3-technique because he has played some there). I couldn't help thinking that they might be looking at McCargo there just in case something does happen to Stroud (or they need to rest him in running situations) and they have to shuffle their DT rotation.

As expected, Hardy is running with the # 2 unit--although the video on BB.com showed him making a couple of nice catches.

The only big surprise was Peters not being there. I hope it is because he is still rehabbing his injury and not due to any simmering contract dispute.

Evans being held out could have something to do with his contract talks--he certainly doesn't want to do anything that might get him hurt at this point in the offseason while he and his agent are talking about a deal with the team.
