The attempt to procure pass rusher Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila, a restricted free agent from Green Bay, is dead. Shortly before "KGB," as he is known, re-signed with the Packers in a seven-year, $37.3 million deal,_Andy Reid had told select media at the owners’ meetings that any deal to bring the 25-year-old pass rusher to Philadelphia was unlikely — not with his demand for a $14 million signing bonus (he got $11 million from the Packers). The failure to sign KGB to replace DE Hugh Douglas, who signed with Jacksonville, is a microcosm of the team’s failure to have a productive offseason. The Eagles have been cautious recently in the offseason, but the losses of Douglas, KR Brian Mitchell and LB Shawn Barber_have_not been_offset by the acquisitions of LBs Nate Wayne and Mark Simoneau. The team will attempt to shore up needs at defensive end, tight end, middle linebacker and wide receiver through the draft and after June 1 — as it did last year with the acquisitions of RB_Dorsey Levens and WR Antonio Freeman.
