22:06 PT: Mark Maske, of the Washington Post, reports the Washington Redskins may be interested in trading down in April’s draft to acquire more picks in the middle rounds.

The Washington Redskins hope to make some trades during the NFL draft next week to acquire more picks. The Redskins have one selection each in the second and third rounds and a pair of seventh-round choices in the two-day draft that begins Saturday, and sources said they intend to try to trade down to gain additional picks. The Redskins need a safety, a defensive lineman or two and a punter, and perhaps a wide receiver and a quarterback.

Adding a mid- to late-round choice might enable the Redskins to draft a quarterback to develop behind starter Patrick Ramsey and veteran backup Rob Johnson. Coach Steve Spurrier said recently that the club has not ruled out re-signing quarterback Danny Wuerffel as a free agent.
