With scoring slightly down this season, Bettman said a recently-struck committee will restart the effort to make goalies' pads smaller. He left no doubt where he stands on the issue.

"I wouldn't mind if there was a little more open space to shoot at," he said.

I wonder if that will last longer than a month next season.

Make the pads smaller for sure.

They were talking about making nets larger before, but that would just give hasek 3x more hernias.. if thats even possible

They are just covering symptoms....the real problem IS Bettman. They need to get rid of him or the NHL will never be good.

Bettman clearly is delighted that "two highly-skilled powerhouse teams" in Detroit and Pittsburgh are meeting in the final. The matchup is a stamp of approval on efforts since the lost 2004-2005 season to accentuate skill and speed.

If they would call the the clutching, grabbing and interference in the playoffs and stop it from creeping into the regular season, this would happen all the time.
