Buffalo will welcome Saginaw Valley State University middle linebacker Derek Volmering in for a workout on June 17.
Last season, Volmering was named to the first team of the GLIAC after leading his team with 119 tackles and starting all 11 games.
Volmering registered 10.5 tackles for loss, forced five fumbles and tallied four sacks. In one game against Ashland, he dominated the field with 19 tackles.
The Bills have a mini-linebacker pipeline with Saginaw Valley. Last season's starting MLB, John DiGiorgio, went to college there, as well as former Bills LB Eugene Marve.

I'm going to have to look up more about this dude...if he can be as good or better than Digi, we got some solid depth at our LB corps.

This dude looks like he would talk smack on Urlachers mom. Hopefully he can make the team. The more LB's the better.

Solid play recognition skills, decent athleticism, his tackling technique needs a lot of work though.

It appears that Sag Valley State is loaded with stud LB prospects.

If this guy ends up being anything like The Digi than we are going to be loaded at the LB position.

And we all know how the Bills love their high motor guys.

Digi was a total project for a few seasons and last year it Al started to come together. Camp fodder.

DiG was never a total project and he hasn't been around for a "few seasons" either. He was the top MLB backup as a undrafted rookie in 06', surprisingly beating out many others, and started for us in 07. Top notch pickup.

I think the kid looks like Owen Schmitts' brother, or at least a long lost cousin!! If you saw pictures of OS prior to the draft you'll know what I'm talking about!!

One of the reasons why Fletcher became expendable.

I welcome him.

Perhaps he's the next Eugene Marve.
