View Full Version : I see where the Bills could win the AFC East.

The Pats have the worst of both worlds coming into this season. They are an undefeated team so every team is going to still want to beat them. But they have the hangover and enormous let down of losing the SB. In other words teams are going to be up for a team that might not be up to play them.
The Bills need players like Trent, Lynch, Poz and Stroud to deliver this year. If this happens I can see us winning the division out right.
Yes, alot of things have to come together. I think Fred Jackson, Mitchell, Hardy, Simpson and others have a say in this as well.
There is no reason to believe that we can't sweep the fins and split with the Jets and Pats. 4-6 in our own division and 6-7 wins with every one else.

with any good luck...all the stakeholders are just waiting until there is a week left in training camp to lower the boom on the cheaters. Hit them while it hurts and don't give them time to prepare to recover.

The Pats can't repeat last year's performance. I just see this as a year where they fall down. A fall for them might be 10-6.
we're much better off if they are decimated instead of just tripping over a branch.

i would love to see that happen......the Cheatriots have some karma headed their way....but for me, anything better than 7-9 is a big improvement for the Bills, and if we could get a wildcard playoff spot, i would be very pleased.

HH,with all due respect , not trying to smack or hijack your thread , But isn't this a huge contrast to what you felt weeks ago when you stated if we're serious about playoffs we needed to draft a DE and bring in wr vets?
Winning the division is a huge step forward of making wild card which you questioned in the past. You went from sky is falling to borderline homeristic :idunno:
winning the division might just be our way into the playoffs...and the way to do it is to beat the Pats at least once.
If our starters and new players play as hard as they can like the back ups did last year and with a very much improved defense there should be no excuse for us not making the playoffs or having our playoff hopes come down to the last game of the year.

It's hard to respond to this when you constantly are taking things out of context.
The DE argument was almost 8 weeks ago and was specific to grabbing a top DE if he was availble when we picked. We know what happened at #8 so why do you keep bringing it up other than to argue for the sake of arguing.
The thread says it's possible if the Pats take a dump.

As somebody that is as optimistic as anybody here, even I think a division title is highly unlikely.
There is too much of a talent and experience gap between Buffalo and New England for this to happen. I would love it and the home playoff game(s) that would come with it though.

Yeah, there's a slim chance of us making the playoffs if we can win the division...

I said things have to fall into place, players have to step up, and I'm assuming a drop off from the Pats.
I didn't guarantee anything. I see 9 wins right now. However, 2 more wins is possible.

Why?
1st year O.C.
QB situation.
7 wins last year were against turd teams.
Miami/Jets improved this off-season.
Alot of question marks on the D-line.
10 years of stinkage.
How much of an impact do rookies make? Poz, Hardy, McLovin will need to make immediate impact.
The 3 white guys playing DE are overrated.

The Bills winning the division is extremely unlikely but odder things have happened. All it takes is a season ending injury to someone like Brady and the tables will quickly turn.
As of right now our biggest threat outside of the Pats is the Jets and I think that we can at least tie the series with them if not take it. Like I've said before; it all depends on whether or not Edwards is ready to start playing like a real NFL QB. That's not to say that he has to be Peyton Manning or Tom Brady, but if he can move into that tier just under them with the Roethlisbergers and Eli Mannings of the world then we might be able to make something happen.

Posluszny isn't a rookie.

Since when does the color of one's skin have anything to do with how good of a football player they are?

You just don't get it. I think the Bills are getting closer to making the playoffs but I'm not sure they did enough to get there this year. Period.
However, the 1980 Bills where in a very familiar situation and won 11 games with good coaching and some young players stepping up. That team was predicted to go 7-9 wins.
All I'm saying is that I at least see a scenario where it's possible. Last year there was no doubt that NE was winning the division. No doubt what so ever.

We are 5th lowest in cap room and we still have roster that has holes:
1) No TE threat.
2) No depth on the O-line.
3) Pathetic DE performance.
4) Marginal WR depth.
I think the Bills are taking the slow road to recovery here.
Do you not think it's fair to expect a playoff result this year? Have we not been patient enough? I'm just trying to find a scenario that makes this happen for the wasted time I have invested in this team.

so how is it again that we may win the division ?
Here's what your thought process has been.
If we are serious about making playoffs we should bring in a high DE draft pick. If we are serious we should bring in a vet wr. You mentioned Moulds.
We didn't do either so based on what you said we're probably not serious about winning.
This thread pretty much says that if the Pats fall off the face of the earth then we probably have a shot at winning the division.
That goes the same for the jets and fins.

Jacksonville confirmed my pre-draft threads. They are a smaller market team than us with a better D and thought enough of Harvey, and the improtance of the position in this league, to trade up to 8 to get him.
How much more validation could I get?
Moulds was for discussion purposes only in addressing bringing in a vet WR. You know I never, ever said it was a good idea. You know this, you've seen the thread, but continue to quote it out of context.

Your team went 1-15 so you have no credibility here. Your team will suck again and most Miami fans know this except you.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just don't see playoffs.
I keep looking at this roster and I just don't see playoffs:
1) Stroud is a huge question mark. I feel like his name is bigger than what we are going to get out of him.
2) Hardy is replacing Peerless Price so this is an instant upgrade. However, if he plays like a rookie, which is likely, than maybe we get 400 yards out of him and 4 TDs.
3) McKelvin is a nice pick but I see his impact being limited to a Ko Simpson type first year.
4) This is Mitchell's third team in three years. He's a veteran upgrade at LB but not a dominant player.
The reality is that this team is relying on the returns of Poz and Simpson while hoping for the development of the 2nd year players in Lynch and Edwards.
.
This is not a negative thread. I'm looking for serious explanations on why you think we make the playoffs this year. . to answer this I'll refer this post with your initial post in this thread.
I'd understand if you say that you've changed your mind from not making playoffs to wildcard. You're not only talking about playoffs this time but beating a powerhouse (that cheats, couldn't resist) to get to the playoffs. If we can beat the PAts we can beat anyone. Tall order.

There is no reason to believe that we can't sweep the fins and split with the Jets and Pats. 4-6 in our own division and 6-7 wins with every one else.
One question - how the hell do we go 4-6 in our division - that's impossible - we can go 4-2.
