    PFW Whispers on Peters contract

I agree 100% - no new contract this year for Peters.

Bills Pro Bowl OLT Jason Peters has been absent from the team’s voluntary offseason program as he seeks a renegotiated contract. But unlike the situation with teammate Lee Evans, who will likely receive a raise before the start of training camp, the chance of Peters being granted his wish is not nearly as strong — at least not this offseason. With three years remaining on a deal he signed in 2006, the Bills are willing to wait at least another year before extending their star offensive lineman. Peters is due to earn a sum that’s below market value but still respectable at $4 million per year, if he reaches all incentives, so there’s little chance that Peters will hold out if the Bills balk at his request.

We'll just pay everyone bigger money that has a good season with 3 years left on their contract and set a presidence for it from here on out, I mean think about it man. The guy is making $4 Million this year, he is not in a terrible spot NFL wise on money there. One more great year / Pro Bowl and we send him the house. We need to fork up big money down for Lee this season and Peters the next.

He'll get paid... he just needs to be patient and wait in line.

Behind both Lee Evans and Angelo Crowell who should both have priority over him.

I don't understand why some people think we should give a player, who is still unproven to a certain degree, an even bigger contract when we have him locked up already.

Peters has no leverage and both he and his agent know that. He is also coming off a major injury and has had other injury concerns in the past.

Shut your mouth, come to camp and have a dominant 2008 campaign and then OBD will show you the money!

Exactly! The injury part is the main reason why I'd wait. If he was never hurt, i would still put him behind Evans and Crowell. Then give a new deal this year during the season.

if the Bills don't pay him, they're going to regret it next off-season when they have to pay him premier LT salary and cram all that guaranteed money into two years because of the lack of a CBA. a
