    Tights end go deep in this year's NFL draft

    If there's any consolation to the Rams in losing Ernie Conwell, it's that this is one of the better drafts at tight end in terms of numbers.

    "I do think this is a fairly deep tight end draft," Houston general manager Charley Casserly said. "Maybe not Jeremy Shockeys, but there's a lot of guys who are going to play."

    In terms of tight end play, the colorful - or should it be cocky? - Shockey set the league on its ear last season, with 74 catches for 894 yards as a rookie with the New York Giants.

    As Casserly says, there are no Shockeys to choose from in this year's draft, but there are perhaps a dozen intriguing prospects. Some are smaller pass catchers, better suited for an H-back role in West Coast-style offenses. Some are bigger, blocking types.
