If there's any consolation to the Rams in losing Ernie Conwell, it's that this is one of the better drafts at tight end in terms of numbers.

"I do think this is a fairly deep tight end draft," Houston general manager Charley Casserly said. "Maybe not Jeremy Shockeys, but there's a lot of guys who are going to play."

In terms of tight end play, the colorful - or should it be cocky? - Shockey set the league on its ear last season, with 74 catches for 894 yards as a rookie with the New York Giants.

As Casserly says, there are no Shockeys to choose from in this year's draft, but there are perhaps a dozen intriguing prospects. Some are smaller pass catchers, better suited for an H-back role in West Coast-style offenses.
