    Bucs' Dwight Smith Charged With Pulling Gun In Road Rage

    Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive back Dwight Smith was arrested and charged with one felony count of aggravated assault Wednesday after he brandished a handgun during a road-rage incident on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard, authorities say.
    Smith, who was booked and released from Pinellas County Jail, exchanged profanities with Clearwater resident John Schultz. Schultz said Smith ``pointed the gun'' at him while both were stopped at Gulf- to-Bay and Hampton Road.

    Smith, 24, said he only ``displayed'' the 9 mm semiautomatic because Schultz was being aggressive.

    Safety sentenced to probation

    Buc Dwight Smith gets no jail time after pleading guilty to displaying a gun.
    LARGO - Bucs free safety Dwight Smith received a year's probation Thursday after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of improperly displaying a firearm during a road rage incident.

    The plea deal removes any complications for him playing for the team this season.

    Smith acknowledged pulling a loaded 9mm semiautomatic handgun and displaying it to a motorist April 16 in Clearwater.
