All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!

DETROIT (AP) - Dominik Hasek is expected to announce his retirement, a person in the NHL told The Associated Press on Sunday night.
The Detroit Red Wings scheduled a news conference for Monday morning without revealing details.

WGRZ's Matt Pearl reported tonight at 6'Oclock sports that Dominik Hasek will retire as a Buffalo Sabre.
After leaving the Sabres in anger in the summer of 2001 and on the day he was traded he told Sabres GM Darcy Regier "don't take any of the core players from Detroit's roster or he would reject the trade" because he wanted to win the Cup. The Sabres wound up getting Vyacheslav Kozlov, a first round selection in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft and future considerations out of the deal. In his final press conference in Buffalo on the same day of when he was traded he said that "He would always be a Detroit Red Wing" and also said "that the Sabres would never be good enough to win a Stanley Cup".
Now it looks like the Sabres and Hasek are about to make up after nine years after the Sabres traded him. Hasek is ready to retire with the team that he started with in 92 & 93 after a trade from the Chicago Blackhawks. The Sabres are even talking about having a Dominik Hasek Night retiring his #39 jersey and sending it up to the HSBC Arena rafters sometime later this upcoming NHL season.
Hasek also still has the Dominik Hasek Youth Hockey League Hasek's Heroes, and has donated over $1 million to help underprivileged children in Buffalo play hockey.
This is a classy thing for the Sabres to do! I know that there was some bad blood with the FO and Hasek when he left but he played excellent for us, if it is truly his desire to retire as a Buffalo Sabre then he certainly should be granted that wish.
I guess I'm still a little bitter about how the end all went down. Although, the more I think about it the more it wouldn't be a terrible idea for him to back-up Miller if he was interested (which he isn't). That would be ironic.
Hasek is the man. Good to see him retiring as a Sabres, my huge board of him in my room looks nice right now

I just read multiple stories and NONE of them mention anything more than the fact that he played for Buffalo. I need a link that tells me otherwise or else I'm dismissing this as a bunch of crap.

You need links to dismiss it as crap?
